2023 Genesis G90 2nd Gen

Wow this thing is absolutely gorgeous. Makes the BMW 7 series look like a turd.

68style 09-28-2022 11:54 AM

Ironic that they said they'd buy the 7 series for $16k more tho

They need to do something with the stance of it... too thin tires... it looks light in a bad way even though it's not. It's okay for a big car to FEEL light... but this car looks light somehow and that's not good.

JDMDreams 09-28-2022 12:21 PM

It's a great looking car but I think I've only seen like one or two since it came out. I think they priced it too close to it's competitors. I recall the g90 before this Gen was already like $90000 back then. I don't think they have enough clout to charge that much sadly. Just like how no one bought the g70.

Badhobz 09-28-2022 02:27 PM

I haven’t seen a single genesis model in Richmond. Either they are utterly invisible or nobody buys them. As jdm states above, too much money not enough clout

ssjGoku69 09-28-2022 02:40 PM

It's not hard to look better than the new design BMW's with the weird grilles

I really dunno what's wrong with genesis, gv70 gv80 looks amazing and should sell like hot cakes but I see more palasades and Tellurides then them. Hell I see more outlanders than genesis SUVs. Not sure if they are having production hell, but I see a lot of other new Korean cars and EVs rolling around.

radeonboy 09-28-2022 09:34 PM

I see GV70, GV80s and even G90s when I'm out in Tsawwassen or White Rock - maybe they're more popular with the older stealth wealth / former Buick buyer crowd?

If it's like my 2020 G90, they're 245 up front and 275 in the rear. Same as my 2015 Hyundai Genesis. The tires look thinner on the 2023 because the wheel size got bumped from 19" to 20". Honestly, for a car like that, I'd rather have smaller wheels with more sidewall bounce for comfort.

The average person still doesn't know what Genesis is. And the people that can afford them buy for the badge. I've seen hideous BMW iX's around

JDMDreams 10-20-2022 12:31 PM

I've seen more Ix than G90, what happened to the plug in Gv80

RacePace 10-20-2022 12:58 PM

There's no electric GV80, you probably mean the G80. Only released recently, Car and Driver did a comparison between the electric G80 and the Merc EQE and the Genesis won, but I'd still suspect the Mercedes will sell more. I think when the electric GV70 comes it'll fare better cause it's an SUV

radeonboy 10-20-2022 01:07 PM

I saw the EQE in person and found it underwhelming overall. There's nothing really Mercedes-Benz-like about the vehicle aside from its badge, and I think they would've been better off doing a powertrain swap on an E-Class like Genesis did with the G80.

Damn no wonder I don't see any, a base gv80 is $75k with a 2l turbo:rukidding: fully loaded is $95k:rukidding::fulloffuck:

Ok, now compare the Germans, Mercedes' GLE and Audi's Q7 have weaker engine combos

A base X5is 79k, stack on some options and it's easily over 100k. The GLE starts at $73,6 sure it's a bit less than the GV80 but the GV80 gives you more features.

And it's a 2.5 with 300hp and 311lb-ft which is more than sufficient.

Back to the topic, the g90's biggest weakness is luxe-barge buyers don't really care about value. If they did they would have bought a Buick/Cadillac/Acura. Those don't exist anymore because sales were always low. No one really cared of them. They need to come out with the GV90 to compete against the likes of the GLS and X7, the GV80's 3rd row is too tight to be used for your average family. They also need hybrid or PHEV powertrains just to help with the cost at the pumps.

Genesis G90 will cater to

1: Koreans who are loyal to their home country.
2: Genesis GM and Managers who have a special rate on the lease

None of the Korean high end sedans have ever been successful. I think I've seen like 2 Hyundai Equus in around Vancouver during Covid, and both of them had shady 2nd hand dealer license plate frames.

You can get a 2014 Equus for $16,5 lol - https://vancouver.craigslist.org/van...545711269.html

JDMDreams 10-21-2022 10:46 AM

I was looking at Equus pre Corona and they were like $10-12 I couldn't find the executive package with the reclining back seats, and I was scared of the QC, finding parts if shit breaks. I was briefly toying with the idea of a genesis 5.0r too. FeelsBadMan

I know it's a step down but I always liked the K900

I bought my G90 because it has something you can't get any more in a luxury sedan... a 5.0L NA V8... lol... I would love for it to be more incognito like my old 2015 Hyundai Genesis V8, the new design language is so in your face...

Being unknown has its advantages, the car was a demo with 5000kms on it that I scored for $60k... so roughly $30k off retail. This was during a time when people were paying $75k for a Rav 4. I had to really think about it though, it's not a small car. If the new G80 still had the V8, I would've bought that instead.

Kinda sad that you can't get any Genesis products with the V8 anymore, only that 3.5T Turbo,. I mean it's not a bad engine but it's no V8.

JDMDreams 10-21-2022 02:03 PM

Something with with Lexus and tt v6 in the Ls

StylinRed 10-24-2022 02:05 AM

I think the new i7 looks gorgeous, but the genesis looks great too, saw one in like a satin green that looked so good, but I'd still take an i7
