| Guilty Pleasures (Food)
Thought there was a thread about food you don't want to admit you like(d). Now or as a child.
Anyway middle of the night. I wake up craving for KD.
I got up and made some KD. I remember making it with all kinds of extras in it. I had nothing exotic in the fridge, so went with Kirkland Bacon Bits.
The KD was expired.......... not gonna tell you by how much, but it was by quite a bit.
I make mine soggy............ I even added parmesan to the mix, lol.
Another guilty pleasure is ramen noodles with wieners, curry, and peas. Cracked egg or two. Sometimes whole, sometimes swirled.
I used to think KD was poor mans food (well, it is), but I found out everybody loves it............. just gotta get them to admit it.
Yeah, I had to put in (Food) in the title, 'cause................

The real question here is, how much of revscene will stand outside a ramen place for 45 minutes in the cold due to a lineup, for a bowl of 19$ noodles

KD is my guilty pleasure as well. Not the original though, 3 cheese with shells is good. I use just enough milk to make a sauce, not enough to make it thin. If I'm really having a crisis I'll make 2 boxes
It really is just pasta and butter and milk and cheese whey powder though. People make way too big a deal out of how 'bad' it is.

I love baked beans and I love them even more when I can toss some hot dog meat in it. My wife hates beans so I really only get to eat them when she's out. For me it's my most common "husband meal" ( https://www.gq.com/story/husband-meal-girl-dinner)

I don't think dried pasta and powdered "cheese" can really ever expire.
I thought I was the only one who liked to swirl an egg and peas into Ramen!(Ichiban is the only one for me). Add some green onion, edamame, and leftover steak if I have it too.

Stupid Kintaro on demmen changed their hours to 11:30am. Me and other old menz went there at 11am and stood there like retards for 30 minutes.
Then this japanese dude finally opened and was like <--- man if you were chinese, we'd all be seated and already would have eaten. what you dont want money?!?! why you make us fucking stand there till exactly 11:30.
Oh and they fucked up our orders too. We all got the BBQ shio ramen (makes no sense considering nothing is bbq'd and only braised) but they gave us regular shio ramen (regular one has less pork). Then i complained and was like WHERES THE MEAT!? and they gave us 3 more slices of ice-cold pork. Im like this shit isnt even warmed up...... so then they went and dunked in the broth and gave it back to us.
something was off yesterday, that fucking dude watched too much Hentai or something cuz hes not the usual model of efficiency

The 2 general exceptions are dim sum (though most of the time I make a reso) and white spot with the kids.
As for KD about 3 or 4 years back I thought damn I haven't had KD in a long time and my son was really getting into mac and cheese so I thought it's time. At this point I haven't had KD for probably 15 years. Sorry unpopular opinion but I probably won't have it ever again. Yes it did taste the same as I remembered but I guess my taste buds have matured too much over those years as it was wasn't good.

I guess you could say spam is one for me. As a kid, I hated the stuff. Tasted weird, smelled weird and I would have rather had actual meat. Now though, it's definitely a guilty pleasure. Pan fry a few thick slice to eat with instant noodles and some eggs. Dice it up and make a nice fried rice with it. My usuals are to add diced onions, minced garlic, corn and peas. Garnish with some green onions and finish it off with some sesame oil at the very end.
Also, since most of us seem to be old af now, anytime I have fast food it's obviously a guilty pleasure. Fucking love me some mcd's and church's/jollibee but gotta keep that shit to a minimum lol.

KD, with cheddar cheese and cheese smokies is such comfort food for me. I always have a box laying around if I'm lazy and want something easy to cool on a rainy day.

For the KD fans out there, this will change your life:
Worth the extra effort/dirty dishes.

My list would be too long to post, but they basically all boil down to some combination of the following:
- carb
- sugar
- caffine
- chocolate
- fatty meats |

I remember way back being grossed out by people eating ketchup with KD. Like WTF? Until I tried it. Damn, it works. I squeeze a fair amount in one spot and grind a shitload of black pepper on the ketchup. BTW, I was at Canadian Tire when they had their Triangle Bonus Day. 30X points if you spent $150.00. I was $5.00 short, so I looked around and saw this battery operated pepper grinder. I wasn’t expecting much, but I think it’s gotta be one of the greatest gadgets I’ve purchased in quite some time. One handed operation (button on top) and the amount of freshly ground pepper in no time flat. I put pepper in everything now. No effort. lol.
Back to food. Ketchup is probably the unhealthiest condiment out there, but I love it. Ketchup on everything, but tofu……………

So popular during WWII. You could get two packages for one food stamp.
I purchased KD powder from Costco a few years back (not sure if they carry it anymore). Don’t know why or how I used it, lol.

Okay, here’s one many would scoff at. I don’t think you can even get them now. I found them on the shelves at Walmart. They have a spot for them, but never in stock. I guess I’m not the only one craving it.
Puritan meatballs in gravy.
It has to be Puritan brand anything else is a no go. Heat it up on the stove and pour it over cold rice. Heaven.
It’s the first thing I check out when I go to a Walmart

maybe cause i'm asian, but KD was never ever in my house so never got "into" it.
Then i was introduced in grade 5 about Chef B Ravoli in a can... it was a treat as a kid for me
ramen for sure and also wonton noodles will always have a place in my heart.
