The only reason why I didn't buy a Dyson was because at the time they didn't have an always on option. for some reason you have to hold the trigger down.

So I went with Tineco, they have an always on trigger and it came with an extra battery, and it was cheaper than my parents Dyson.

I literally used my parents Dyson yesterday and it was pretty annoying to hold the trigger down. Not sure if they changed this with their new ones.

I’ve never once found that to be an issue in the 8 years of owning mine lol the thought has never even crossed my mind.

You’re not holding down the button for the entire 10 minutes of runtime lol

I agree the OEM battery totally sucks, it died after a couple of years, then I replaced it with an aftermarket battery. Hasn't skipped a beat for 7 years total ownership.

The power head recently shit the bed, been keeping an eye out on FB marketplace for replacement parts.

But now I currently own a V15. It's been great around the house, only uses about 30% battery to vacuum up my 940sq coach house.

Yeah I'll have to look into a new battery pretty soon.. The rest off the unit is holding up pretty well. It gets banged around a lot and looks like it, but it works great still, aside from the battery.

Hondaracer 01-31-2024 04:04 PM

If you have cordless power tools, they sell adapters which convert the Dyson battery to use Dewalt/makita barriers now

N.V.M. 01-31-2024 04:14 PM

my Dyson is a Makita.

I bought a replacement battery off Amazon that’s slightly larger capacity than the original one but I can vaccum 3/4 of my place on one charge. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy a Dyson again

The only downside are those heads that have the roller for carpet/hardwood seem to eventually wear out and get so jammed up they aren’t really fixable

I have the V8A as well with an aftermarket battery too. You can actually clear the jam pretty easily, I did it last month with the one that came with my V8. There is like a "coin" slot type thing on one of the side, just turn it and then you can pull out the entire brush roller thing. Then take some scissors and cut the hairs/threads that have tangled them up. Re-insert and tighten the piece of plastic with the slot and it'll spin freely again.

My one complaint with all these handheld cordless units, is that after vacuuming for an extended time, the hand/wrist can get tiring holding the trigger and manuvering it all over the place.

Yea the one giving me trouble is the exact one pictured and I think the bearing or whatever is out in the actual roller because I’ve taken it apart a few times now and it just doesn’t want to spin anymore. Luckily have the second carpet one or whatever it’s for

It seems like you can buy the Detect head separately from the V15, and I want to say it's probably the same attachments so you can attach the Detect head on a V7 or V8 or whatever. But.... seems to != actually working.

inv4zn 01-31-2024 09:13 PM

I went from a V8 to a V15 and it was totally worth it. Stacked a ton of CTire/Triangle promos and got it for ~$500 at the end of the day.

It runs longer, the bin is easier to clean, the laser thing is pretty cool at really showing all the dirt, and the carpet-head tangles far less hair, etc.

The only downside is that it's heavier.

A vacuum thread?.......

RS deeply disapoints me today

Razor Ramon HG 02-01-2024 01:27 AM

So I bought this Bissell steam mop because reviews were good.

https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B097Q8KMD3

The fucking pads on one side keep slipping off when I use it.

:fuuuuu:

unit 02-01-2024 07:03 AM

we use a neato d8 robot vac but we also have a dyson v8. the neato is kinda dumb, sometimes it doesnt complete it's cycle down the hallway, but overall the robot vac + stick vac combo is working for us.

i agree that the worst vac is the one you don't want to use, so i avoid any type of corded vacuums even if they have better suction. we have hard floors everywhere no carpet so we don't need crazy suction.

gurdeep007 02-01-2024 07:25 AM

We currently have the Dyson V8, only replaced the filters 2 times in the past 5 years (amazon filters). Battery is finally showing its wear and only lasts about 15 minutes on regular and 5 min on max..

Waiting for the Dyson V15 to go on sale at Costco again, but I have read the V15 has some issues with not turning on and battery life.

A joke turned into an actual discussion about vacuums... Goes to show you we are all so old we can actually have a full on talk about vacuums and which one's are best and enjoy it.

Badhobz 02-01-2024 08:00 AM

well the actual "car" part of the forums aint much better

its all like how to ICBC is fucking you / VI's, or which people mover / SUV is the best for my growing famiily, or winter tires are important cuz of 1 week of snow, etc etc

This is basically a middle age men's support group at this point.

PeanutButter 02-01-2024 09:04 AM

RS is cheaper than therapy.

A guy I know goes every week and it's $140 each visit.

Badhobz 02-01-2024 09:05 AM

i think prostitutes are cheaper if you visit them 2x a month vs 4x a month for a therapist. wowowowo much result, much relief

headhunt3r 02-01-2024 09:32 AM

Until it costs you half in divorce

The other day me and some friends were playing COD and a random 4th joined us, the guy was killing it and said he used to play in paid tournaments etc.

We then asked how old he was and he was like 19.. the guy wasn’t even alive when we were all playing CS and other games lol.. first time maybe ever where I actually felt old

unit 02-01-2024 09:39 AM

I had a Neato D4 vacuum which exhibited similar issues as your D8, but the Lidar system was a big upgrade over the crash-everywhere Roomba the Neato replaced.

I found my equilibrium with the robot vac + cordless vacuum setup. The robot runs on a schedule which helps with the dust and the cordless takes care of surfaces when they need dusting.

Robot vacuum technology is getting better every year - this new Ecovacs I picked up has scrubbing pads for mopping and a self-cleaning station that can clean the pads and empty the dust bin. Think the camera can even be used as a live camera feed that can be controlled through the app (haven't set up the machine yet)

AstulzerRZD 02-01-2024 10:16 AM

As much as I'm a Miele fanboy, the V15 is really ready for prime time in most households.

UNLESS you have pets or thick pile carpet

Badhobz 02-01-2024 10:52 AM
