For me life is too short to worry what could happen, yes it's way better off to take care of yourself but so many people get so obsessed they don't seem to enjoy life anymore. One of my buddies will go to the pub and have a salad and a vodka and soda instead of a beer and wings and I so see he doesn't really want that but needs to keep his health nut wife happy.
We all are going to die one day, all I know is when I'm on my death bed I don't want to live with regrets especially about things you really have zero control over.
That being said I so need to start working out, be healthy and lose 50lbs but that's easier said than done. | You cant live life to its fullest if you're sick or dead lol..
I agree with the concept of everything in moderation but many people who i know who've died of cancer etc. all didn't know until it was terminal. On the surface they were all "healthy" people until they weren't.
The driver behind all of this is really, I've done a lot in my life, wayyy more than most people in terms of travel and opportunities, and I feel like i've barely got a taste of what i want to do. So the only way to be able to do those things is to live a longer, healthier, life.
The absolute worst thing you can do is have this old world mentality of never seeking treatment or advice when things feel off, or change within your body because in my experience with friends and family, this mentality almost always seems to lead to terminal or debilitating illness.

Assuming you eat clean, on a good macro, weightlift 3-6x a week, do 3-6x of moderate cardio/sports a week.
Is there any benefit to paid bloodwork? It's not like there's much you can change aside from possible diet change for nutrient deficiencies. Quote:

I don’t know what you’re trying to live for, but I got nothing to live for other than myself. If I die, wife’s good to go. |
You die sooner when you're taller too! Every older tall dude said the biggest thing to watch out for is taking care of joints / knees. Especially reducing bodyweight as the stress compounds hard on your knees from 40's to 50's.

My wifes mom who died of Cancer felt "off" for a while until ultimately being referred for blood work, as soon as the doctor saw the blood work it was basically like yea, you've got cancer.

| This is kind of what got my into exercising regularly summer of 2022. I had let myself go so far, type 2 diabetic not really getting my sugars under control then I started getting nephropathy. When I asked my doctor how I cure that and he told me the damage is done and I can't I was like ah fuck because the pain is pretty bad at times.
I changed my lifestyle a lot, I exercise at least 4-5 days a week and I'm a lot more conscious on what I put in my body. Don't get me wrong I still have some vices that I'll never kick and I will eat junk I just try not to have it in the house anymore so if I want it I have to get in a vehicle and go buy it making it super inconvenient. I'm less than 2 years from 50 and honestly although I would not consider myself super fit, I'm in the best shape I've been in since my early 20's which I guess isn't saying that much since I've been going downhill ever since I got married.
I'm not sure I'd go the route of all that extra blood work but I do get my sugars, liver and kidney checked pretty regularly. That's a big price tag, not sure I could justify that.

On top of all these scans, which really just detects something if there is something to detect ... are there reliable genetic testing for pre-emptive disease? Like 23andMe? Anyone done one of these? https://www.23andme.com/en-ca/
Just $189 for ancestry and health.

So with that 23andme, you can release their genetic testing to this Prometheus company, and they will send you back a phone book sized stack of genetic markers, my dad did this (none of us our hypochondriacs etc. as it may sound lol more so just out of interest)
What was hilarious was that part of this report actually came back and said he was missing a gene that is generally part of showing compassion to others, or being cognizant of it, which we all had a laugh at because it definately tracked

You can get similar scans/checks done in Korea and they will provide you the results in a binder translated into whatever language you need so you can bring it back to your GP here.
I got it done once in Korea a long time ago and there was a concierge at the hospital translating in Russian for the couple that was next to me doing the same thing.
My dad does it yearly and has been able to get ahead of some health issues which he would not have been able to foresee had he just gone through the regular system here.

Just $189 for ancestry and health. | Yeah let me help you with that. You’re 99% Chinese.
These things are a scam for anyone with Asian ancestry. It’s useless.

Just $189 for ancestry and health. | I did the 23andme years ago and it is pretty cool. If you want to do it wait until they are on sale. I think I got mine for $70 or so and they go on sale all the time.

The whole body screening isn’t covered by the Taiwanese health insurance. So, it’s always out of pocket expense. It’s got nothing to do with it. And tbh, unless you are a Taiwanese, it wouldn’t matter anyway.
@68style, these procedures are done at major hospitals and English copies of result are available. My parents always bring their results back with them in case of anything to follow up with our family doctor. And the vast majority of doctors there are either foreign trained and/or the classes are mainly taught in English, they probably speak better English than I do.
