Mazda & Toyota Co-Developing Next-Gen GR86/MX-5 https://www.forbes.com/sites/peterly...mx-5-and-gr86/ Quote:

Since the "Toyota is trash" bandwagon hasn't left the station, let me be the first to say that we can count on Toyota to turn this into trash. Let me save a post for AstulzerRZD: 1. Trash interior 2. Trash engine 3. Trash styling 4. Trash transmission 5. Trash suspension 6. Trash, trash, and more trash Conclusion: Toyota = Trash |
I dunno man this sounds pretty tame it's been 200 HP forever. Ppl are getting 400hp out of 2l now a days. And wouldn't the hybrid make it heavy as fuck? Doesn't sound very zoom zoom to me, this seems like it will end up like the new prelude |
I like the GR86 and MX-5. New interior had a lot of effort put in and isn’t plastic bullshit lol the rest of the industry. |
You are a lie and a waste of time. |
I only hope that the collab means the next miata has more room, at least like an NC. I feel so cramped in the ND. |
I kind of like how purposefully small the ND is. As a 5'10 dude it was fine. Helmet wasn't fitting regardless of NC or ND so I rather a tighter package. |

I’m 5’8 and ND RF is uncomfortable |
You got one hell of a man spread, I'm 6' and felt totally at home in a ND RF that I rented in Hawaii! |
Until I am seeing more concrete reporting or indications of such a thing actually happening, I'm taking the Toyota-Mazda collab with at least a couple grains of salt. Multiple car mags and other publications have all reportedly said the next gen Miata is gonna come with a 2.5L NA engine, and that news had supposedly come from Mazda execs. So I am taking that to be a more reliable news source than what Best Car is saying. While there are some discrepancies between the stories, I am aware that they can still be largely compatible with one another. Also, I continue to hope that there will be a fixed top version of the Miata. It seems unlikely that Mazda will do something like that, cuz first and foremost, the Miata has always been a convertible to Mazda. But if the collab rumours hold true, perhaps Toyota can make theirs a fixed top version? Kinda like how the Z4 and Supra are the convertible vs fixed top versions of a highly similar car? |

Passenger side blows |
I'm 6'2" and while I "fit" in the ND it's quite cramped in the driver side, and I have to be careful where my knees go when i get in and out. The passenger seat is uncomfortable with the tiny foot well thanks to the massive hump for rides longer than 15 minutes. The article mentions the collab might result in something that'll accommodate the GR's 2+2 so I'm hoping that means the Miata will have just a bit more room inside. |
my fat ass uhhh "fits" into a ND miata, but for sure cant be in there for more than 10-15 minutes. Still better than the s2k... that thing is a joke. |
