Autobody recommendation for good color match/blending

Hello,

What bodyshop would you recommend? ICBC claim, rear bumper damage/needs replacement. Its an Audi Q7 with glacier white metallic paint

I'm debating between No.1 collision richmond location (dealership recommended them) or richcity collision in richmond.

Let me know what you guys think or any other suggestions. The main concern is color matching the glacier white metallic paint to the rest of the vehicle as I know its very hard to get it right.

thanks

If it's ICBC won't they just blend till it matches? They might not just paint the bumper and you have ICBC warranty

I don't have a recommendation for you, but it would help to go talk to the person who either does the painting or the owner. I was talking to the owner for starlight autobody in Burnaby and he doesn't typically take BMWs because he was using Sickens as a supplier and they don't match well with BMW. PPG would give a better match for BMW colours and for me to go look around for someone else.

When I had to get my bumper fixed and painted (ICBC covered), Richmond Autobody in Langley did a pretty good job paint matching Championship White on my old FK8.

Ditto on finding a shop that uses PPG. They have the most capable colour match for factory BMW colours. My father has been in the industry for close to 30 years and has used a variety of paints, and only PPG matches best for BMW. To the trained eye, the differences are massive. But to the general public, it will be hard to tell unless the shop really messed up.

Sorry, I read too deeply into EvoFire's post and jumped on the bandwagon assuming the vehicle in question was for a BMW. (Reading comprehension fail.)

For Audi, aim for a shop that uses Glasurit, which is a BASF paint.

I have no personal experience with No.1 Collision but they mostly deal with European makes. General consensus is their quality of work is good, but do your own due diligence to make an informed decision.

I mean, if this is a lease and you don't care, yes, I would advocate for a Maaco paint job.

Truline Automotive in Richmond can take care of you pretty well. They work on all sorts of German cars. A number of us here had our BMWs repainted by them, and I know they've had Audi's too.

Ask for Spencer or Hammer, let em know I sent you, yes - "bicbaws".

No idea on Audi, you'll have to do your due dilligence.

Both my 2nd hand experiences with No1 has not been great. Slow turnaround, not amazing work. I know they are endorsed by the dealers but on an individual level they have not impressed.

If you want things done quickly, I would recommend Auto West Autobody on Bridgeport. Maybe because I know the owner there, but Edward gets me in and out and no BS. Only time I had a problem was because they had used Panther's to refinish wheels and Panther's fucked up twice on one order. I believe Edward said he's dropping them as it's not the first time he's had problems with Panther's.

My other experience would be with Burrard Autostrasse. Great quality work and match, and they will take care of little details no problem. Expect the bill to be expensive though as they are a premium shop, and turnaround to be slow. If you care about keeping the claim amount low for resale, or don't want to pay top dollar, this wouldn't be my choice. My contact there is Robert Ko.

Starlight in Burnaby on Gilley is a recommendation. I've never sent any cars there but lots of friends have. Victor is very meticulous and if you talk with him he will explain things in detail and tell you whether if it's a good idea or not. He's the one that taught me about the differences in paint suppliers, and he said he wasn't going to take my car because he doesn't think he can get a match that I'll be happy with. Customer satisfaction is a big one with him and he doesn't fret about having enough business, he cares that the word of mouth is good.
