I need a car to shoot!

I don't even have my own to shoot. Haha

I haven't shot much in the last little while. I have a roll of film that has been in my camera for almost a month. I am getting excited about the prospect of getting my new camera in the new year.

Someone give me a car to shoot.

hey great shot!

u knw what i woulda done to experiment?
shoot from a higher angle down. so the entire bike is in the shadow of the background so u cant see it. and all u can see is the bike's reflection upside down in the puddle. that woulda been sweet

[azn angel]
12-27-2004, 06:47 PM
tried and not possible. as you move the camera up you get more of the bike as a silloutte against the airport lights, but then the bike is not in the reflection of the water anymore.

First two pics are with a Fuji Finepix 2.0mp camera. Last pics are taken with a Canon S400.

I wouldn't really call those high end cameras. I do have an old school Canon 35mm SLR camera.

'nuff said. Go take some pictures.

All you need is will, education, a feel for what you're trying to capture, the knowledge of how to produce that, and then a sturdy, feasible means of capturing it. In this case, a manual camera.

maxxxboost, nice capture there and nice car :). One thing though, if you're going for composition, try not to place the car, right infront of a big pole like that, doesn't look so good. You could also move around the car to get a shot where you don't have the pole right behind the car. Let's see some more :D.

How do you like the grip Domani? Does it get in the way of holding your, say 50mm? (Since your setup is similar to mine :)).

Levitron
02-21-2005, 02:50 PM
I don't see how it would get in the way of holding a 50mm. Mainly a grip allows you to add a battery, and also shoot vertically.

POSITIVE.

the projector is where the lowbeams are.
where that light is, is the highbeam or DRL spot..

me thinks its a 'ricer HID-like bulb" :P

Holding the camera horizontal, the grip on the bottom seems to jut out and hit's my hand while holding the 50mm w/ my left hand. I don't own one, just tried putting it on once.

defintley not. i will ask him though... but i know for a fact he's got actual HID's... cuz i remember when he originally got them.. plus.. hes not a person who would cheap out and put light bulbs in his car.. it doesnt match the rest of his theme... seeing as he's got a trial kit, and tein suspension and stuff..

Well NWN should have replied by now. I believe the banner will change soon. I would put your name up there myself If I could. Send a request to Alkatraz, the webmaster.

Either way, nice shot.

My advice is to do less 'reflections' shots. You do too many of them, hence why I like the night shot of that r32. If you keep taking pics at the same locations the comments will be 'oh its another one of these pics'

...but if your getting paid, thats really the only thing that matters

either way good stuff.

There is so much information online, and no schooling can replace the simple daily practice.

I have taken over 10,000 pics with my camera over the past 1.7 years I owned it.

You get comfortable, its like driving a car. Get a new one, learn its limits by going out and having fun.

The only drawback to a lower mp is; You are limited to printing and huge desktop resolutions.

The only "Courses" I took were in highschool, other wise I learn online, and go out and have fun as well :P
Talking to people on here, and other sites really help as well.
But I'm sure theres stuff I Could learn from taking a course or two...Who knows, Never gone to school after highschool yet, that's next year.

Tips/suggestions
Love this post. watch it all the time, figured Id post aswell nice angle and backdrop but clone the light standards out and try turning down the brightness and adjusting the contrast. i'm not a big fan of the glare coming off the rear panel. Also take a little bit of time to either remove your plate before shooting or clean it like Domani does, the blur just looks cheap and rushed. Keep shooting!

first of all ,HAWT CAR! Make you backgrounds as simple and undistracting as possible. (the house and white garbage bags)Try shooting at max aperture to blur the background out and your car will "pop" off the page.

To save this pic I would clone out the white bags, blur the background except the trees, maybe even a desat (make b&w)then re-color the s2k...keep shooting!

Thanks you can either put your camera into AV mode or M or even portrait. In AV(aperture value) you have full adjustment of you aperture (diaphram opening size), you want to go with the smallest # possible which will give you the largest opening(wide open). In this mode your camera will chose the appropriate shutter speed. In manual you will have full control. Of course you don't have to shoot wide open for every shot cuz sometimes you will need a little extra depth of field to bring the entire subject into focus so just adjust your aperture until everything you need in focus...is.

Yeah you're right about the 2nd picture. The lighting was kinda screwed up. The sunlight actually made my car look orange too. I got more pictures coming.

Do you guys think the rounded light bulbs will look much clear if my shutter speed is faster? It was on auto thats why its really bright?

EG_Wanna_Be
03-07-2005, 12:50 AM
Yes, quicker shutter speed would solve the problem, but you'd lose the exposure on the rear of the car. ideally. I would shoot that shutter speed, but compose the shot without the light sources in it. :)

Very nicely done. The wheels complement the car very nicely.
The lowering job looks like H&R Race. Do you bottom out a lot?

And the paint looks impeccable. What year is the car? 92/93?

Post the pics Kev!

thanx again, car is lowered on racing dynamics coilovers, surprisingly it doesn't bottom out ever.

car is a 1994 320i w/97 M3 swap. original paint too.. front end could use a re-spray tho, rock chips suck :(

Oooh, a sleeper.

Who did the transplant?
Must have been expensive... Did you have to change the drive shaft and differential?

If I had the money I would have done the same...

I think this is perfect_g's car. I took these a year ago :). Taken with my good olympus!

I shoved xenon's myself in the last pic, lol.
Sucky thing is, I don't know where the originals are :(.

CG did the swap, and ya it cost the original owner a pretty penny.

drive shaft was changed and it now has a 3.91 lsd rear end, among other things.

its so much fun :D

Nice pics Acura.
Some good potential in there.

I took the liberty to do some minor PS tweaks on this picture to hopefully inspire you to get to know the program. Minor tweaks with contrast/sharpness/saturation could make your images much more appealing:

Simply outstanding.
Wow.

But I think the first one would look better in landscape mode (tighter crop) to eliminate the blown sky, and to accentuate the curve in the road.

Let's do my car next.
=P

Love the shots as usual. I don't like cars that have those window things on top, look ugly imo and over time, you get crap stuck under there.

Civictron that flare really throws off the picture. If you would of shot with more tail light ran the DOF along the car and ended with the front wheel then that would of gave you some nice reflections and the ambient street lights. Wonder what it would of looked like with the blue glow

mother fuck domani! your car shots are too damn shwing shwing! *uh uh, shit, i think i just threw out my hip*

anyways, wicked shots. i would have made the came comment as salar. this might have been impossible, but brought the camera down lower and had the car in the left third of the frame with the road winding down in the bg.

Alrighty, Ima been playin with PS that last couple of hours and ive always tried to get a B/W photo with the car being coloured,

So, in this pic I used PS to create layers with an orignal photo, tossed to B/W and then I used a cut out of the zx2 and layers it over the image. I then used the gradient tool to loose the original colors that were in the windows and what not.. whatcha thing, any tips, suggestions?

That is a lot of words for something as simple as: "I selected the car, then I desaturated the rest of the picture."

oo what front bumper is that on the celica? looks like a mugen smiley although i don't think there is a mugen kit for anything else but Honda's (is that true?)

and which function in PS to soften the image? :o
