| pass a couple of tests and you're a licensed real estate agent. I use to work for the Real Estate Board...you would be surprised as to how many dumbf*cks are handling your homes.
Its easy to become agents but to be successful, the key is investing. Look at Bob Rennie....

If you dont know many people in the industry and dont have a large network of wealthy family and friends - its going to be tough cuz theres 10s of 1000s of realtors out there but only a small portion make the big money.
On top of the real estate license look at taking real estate additional courses at bcit too.

Like girl, I work at the REB of greater Van, and there are 8000 members (Realtors)
Yeah, its a tough job.
And the crazy training course called the PDP that the board host...you have come to that as well. (Say hi to me; the girl who puts out the coffee)
The UBC correspondence course and BCIT's program are the ones I hear the most.
Good Luck

thanx i think i will be going to the ubc program. yes i do have a pretty larger network of ppl, and many of them have 1-3 homes. ranging from $250k condo's all the way to $900k homes. from vancouver >downtown>burnaby>coquitlam. so yes i kind of want to get into this bussiness and FAST because i will become the ONLY realtor in my network. and yes i am sure that once i become a realtor i will be there agent. so i want to get into this FAST

so i wanna become a realestate agent = I want to be broke in 3 yrs.
anyway, here's my insight being a realtor.
1) you need to be in there for 3 yrs before giving up. If you can't sustain yourself for 3 yrs, you're not going to succeed
2) you need an edge, just like any joe-blow company in the world. I can come up with tons of ideas but then you'll have to pay me to tell you. read next note:
3) it's good that you have already your network of friends, it'll truly make or break you in the industry. what i do not like is when you are with your friends, they will either refer you or really don't like you and you'll lose a friend. when it comes down to is truly knowing how to manage your commission in closing your deals.
4) you need to build a great relationship with your advertising department rep at the press so you can change ur ads fast and with ease, you need a great mortgage broker that will work 24/7 just like you
5) klnow how to work the revenue canada or else you'll never win.
i can write a book abot this. only 10% of the people will succeed, if you don't know that you will succeed you won't.

i heard on a typical home, u make on avg about 7000. but if u introduce the buy and the seller, then ur making 7000 off each end.
comes down to it, u need to get ur name out, u need associating with a good real estate company. and when ur in ur 50s, and ur well known, THEN u can go out on ur own.
it comes down to building a client base, so they always come looking for you for their next home purchase, or always reconmend u to their relatives or friends.
