how do you like the triple compared to your gixxer750? thinking about selling the s1000 and picking up a 675r next year

08-26-2012, 10:54 PM
i like it better than my gsxr and im really lovin the sound of havin a 3 cylinder dont get me wrong guys but it feels like the 675 pulls harder compare to my 750 but when it comes to cornering tho id choose the 750 prolly because its lower and the riding position is not that aggressive compare to 675 which is way higher...my buddy has the R and that thing is really sexy man...id say go for it :)

higher seat height and aggressive riding position wouldn't necessarily be bad for me because it'll be my bike for the t rack hehe. i've always been intrigued by that triple. good power and tons of mid range as well. and those damn ohlins :sweetjesus:

might be possible to get a good deal on any remaining 675R's before the new gen comes out next year :D

CharlieH, EvilX, you guys should try to keep your toes pointed forward and in. Looks like your opening up your hips and trying to reach, causing your toes to point out and down.

Once you start leaning the bike more, you might catch your toe and trust me it hurts.

CharlieH

i have a hard time keeping my inside foot in place when im hanging off the bike. i end up resting my heel on my swing arm and it feels much more planted. toe slider's already grinded down to shits though :(

yes I agree, but as you lean lower your legs come back closer hence your toes will point forward :ahwow:

I hit my toe sliders on the 250 race bike @ willowsprings a year back...not really painful but kinda werid haha but good thing is my sidi's can replace those sliders

Apparently all fender eliminators are illegal because they do not meet DOT standards. Here's a pic showing the back of my bike

http://i46.tinypic.com/2qvle.jpg

Officer said I had improper rear signal lights, missing license plate lamp, missing rear fender and reflector, and my license plate is mounted improperly (its too tucked in).

I got two tickets, one for improper display of plate $230 and one for defective vehicle $109. I also got a notice and order to bring my bike back to stock and have it inspected within 30 days.

I was pretty much really unlucky to get caught. I wasn't speeding or doing anything stupid. I saw a cop on a bike going the opposite direction, we looked at each other and i saw him ride by but i guess he made a u turn somewhere and caught up to me at a stop light and told me to pull over. If it was a cop in a cop car i probably would not have gotten busted. Since this guy was riding too he was probably out looking for riders will illegal mods or what not. I tried to get him to let me off with a warning but he said he was already being lenient with me because technically the rear mods i had were sufficient enough that he could have taken my bike off the road right then and there and gotten it towed and the fine would have been much more.

i passed by there yesterday and saw that

around 7 15 pm right?

yeah that was me. i was standing by the side of the road for a while, cop took his sweet time to write me the tickets.

and my Frame sliders, in case you were curious, I got from T-Rex racing, decent for the price compared to some of the other brands out there.

On my violation ticket it says i have an offense for improper display of plate which is section 3.02 of the mva and the fine is $230. But according to the VIOLATION TICKET ADMINISTRATION AND FINES REGULATION (source: Violation Ticket Administration and Fines Regulation (http://www.bclaws.ca/EPLibraries/bclaws_new/document/LOC/freeside/--%20O%20--/Offence%20Act%20RSBC%201996%20c.%20338/05_Regulations/15_89_97%20Violation%20Ticket%20Administration%20a nd%20Fines%20Regulation/89_97_05.xml)) the fine amount should be $196. Unless cops have the discretion to write any amount they want? Does anyone know if cops have to go by the amount specified on the above website?

http://i47.tinypic.com/2uzcpj5.jpg

Also section 3.02 of the mva reads (source: Motor Vehicle Act Regulations (http://www.bclaws.ca/EPLibraries/bclaws_new/document/ID/freeside/26_58_01))

http://i49.tinypic.com/vatd2.jpg

If you look at the picture of my license plate it meets the requirement of section 3.02. It's securely fastened in a horizontal position.

Here's mine...
I have an integrated taillight with turn signals. I know it was illegal when i purchased it because the turn signals needed to be further apart so I purchased additional turn signals. I replaced the reflector with aftermarket turn signals. I might get dinged for that. I got a warning because I did not have a plate light, so I'm planning to get a led strip and wire it up.

daytona675
09-30-2012, 08:23 PM
^That is the damaged bike when it was still in california. The picture on my phone is the same picture. I guess because the above pic is larger, really shows the damage clearly. Brandon?

It's damaged to that extent due to the estimated speed of 170kph the highside occurred. It felt like riding a rodeo bull. I was literally thrown maybe 15ft into the air, I had enough time to react to put my arms in right before smashing into the asphalt. Then being ragdolled another 150ft or so. Didn't want to break my wrists at that speed.

Thank you to good invested gear was I able to walk away with no broken bones. But I do have rehab ahead of me for my shoulder.

Should be an R6 for next season. 08 and up. Know anyone selling??

Yup most of the time is just natural reflex. When you slide your mind automatically tells your hand to stop giving gas....by then you just hope for a lowside but if not then the bike will flick you off so fast that you'll be flying up in the air and hitting on the ground before you even know it.

When you say "stop giving gas", do you mean going to no throttle at all? Would simply reducing the amount of throttle be OK in a turn?

No throttle at all... so acceleration hard through corner, slide and then chopping the throttle off...

it could also happen by a rear brake causing a skid and then letting the pedal off while leaning of course....

There is just a lot of possibility to make the bike rear end slide and to retain grip again causing a hinge where it regain traction while the bike is already sideways, rotates and throws you off..it depends the inertia too by how high your going to fly up in the air after it flicks you off... when the shock compresses and loads up, then decompresses it throws the rider into the air

I'm visiting India for a couple months so have a new ride... Royal Enfield Bullet 350!

At 350cc, it's the biggest bike I've seen. I saw a baby Yamaha the other day, a YZF-R15 -- that's 150cc, not 1500 :lol

The gear shifter is on the right and the rear brake is on the left... took some getting used to lol

in the 20k and 3 years i've been riding exclusively with an open face, i have yet to be smoked in the face by anything major. theres a handful of stingers from bugs and shit falling from trees but i usually ride with some sort of covering. Got a good collection of scarves and a neoprene mask i use for roadtrips. Around town its totally fine but when you're on an undivided highway with Semi's and trucks flying by and lots of road debris, i've made it a habit to cover my lower face with my hand as they pass.

it feels alot better than the full face i have collecting dust in the garage but i am aware of the danger. My friend who went to Pacific said they told him a stat. 80% of downed riders take some sort of hit in the face area. i am looking for a cosmonaut type helmet during the off season. Just cant get myself to ride my bike with a modern looking helmet.

BillyBishop
10-12-2012, 04:29 AM
Yeah I hear you man, I'm planning on bobbing my bike hence why I'm considering it. On longer rides I'll bring out the full face, but for bombing around town I wanna go with the open face.

Rider down :c Fuck rain and bt 016 tires

Truck stopped for pedestrian but the pedestrian waited like fucking 10 years before trying to cross, i expected the truck to move shortly after stopping. It was the dumbest fucking assumption ever, straightened up a little but i was still curved, lost traction then high sided. Shoulder hit the trucks bumper so luckily the truck has no damage, my tail got fucked but thats alright because of the hit and run from before, i would have to get it replaced anyways. Gas tank scuffed to the metal slightly, gas tank fairing has a big chunk gone. 2 Screws from the windshield is missing, i think the forks are off by like 2 or 3 degrees.

All in all a learning experience for riding in the rain. INCREASE BRAKING DISTANCE SHIT LOADS, DONT MAKE ANY ASSUMPTIONS.

Im with beacon now but i fear if i claim it they will not accept me next year, so might just fix it myself, damage isnt that noticeable. Should i tape up the bare metal on the gas tank to prevent corrosion? What type of tape should i use?

Pics in spoiler. Sorry most the photos were taken with a potato.

Very unlucky.
I never intend to ride in the rain and always make assumptions, safe ones at least. If I see a truck stopped, I always 99.9% stop behind him and wait. Don't assume he will go, ride smart. It's like getting stuck behind two cars and the first one is making a left turn. I hardly change lanes and pass cause I always assume the guy in front of me will change lanes and you're on a bike, he'll almost never see you pull out.

Well, finally pieced together some cash to replace my stolen ZX7R that insurance completely screwed me on. Couldn't find an exact replacement that was clean enough for my liking, so I ended up scooping up a later model C2 ZX9R.
I'm a sucker for these old carb'd larger displacement Kawi's.

Building an exhaust for it fairly shortly, and picked up a set of shorty levers and a couple other small pieces to start. Started building a dual round headlight assembly (retrofit into the single assembly) too, since I prefer that look.

Happy with it so far. Just wish I didn't acquire it under such shitty circumstances. Miss my 7.

Thanks man !

Much better. We finally landed a shop space, and are wrapping up production on our first-run proprietary releases. So things have really been looking up on all sides. It was just bad timing . . . I mean, not like any time is a good time to have your bike stolen and insurance not pay out a cent -- but, having just moved up here and having all my funds tied up in my company, it was that much worse. But, roll with the punches. All you can do.

Yup, I'll be riding year round. Need to pick up a new set of non-perforated gloves, but it's been decent in the cold rain so far. Anything's good compared to Alberta weather, haha.

Thanks for keeping an eye out, too.

So what kind of shop are you opening and where?

We're opening a specialist automotive (cars + bikes) performance shop.

More than just a shop, we've been working on a number of first-party manufacturer products, media, and a number of other things. Lots up our sleeves. We're located in New West.

http://www.facebook.com/CircuitSoul

Taking off back to Japan again on the 20th for a couple weeks, but we will be publicly opening our doors first thing in the New Year, with an official grand opening matsuri in the spring.

Website and other outlets will be live shortly.

Also, if anyone is interested in Japanese parts - we'll be shipping another container back from Japan. If anyone's interested in anything, drop us a line at info [at] circuitsoul (dot) com

Sold my 04 ZX6R in late July. Miss it a lot!

Looking at getting another 06+ bike

Here it is just before I sold it. Had scratches on both sides but was a great bike to learn on.
