They have info sessions all the time. I attended one at VCC downtown. Check their website http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/menu-eng.html

What school are you currently attending? I have a pamphlet to become a BSO somewhere.. I'll take a look for it and see if it's all that useful.. There was recently a booth at SFU with information about doing a co-op for it.

apply online, simple as that. check the federal website regularly. I know 2 guys that just got the job, but prepare to wait it out. it's a lengthy process when it comes to testing. the gov't is slow.

Ya, it does take a while. When I did it, it took them like a few months to let me know when the exam date was and then waiting for the results then scheduling a interview.

I usually get emails about the info session from my school, so i'll post it if i hear anything.

from the day you apply online to the day they call you back to confirm you got the job after all the testing/interviews is approx 6-10 months from what I gather from close friends and relatives that have went through the process...

Step 1: Apply Online
2: Get e-mail for written exam and go write the exam (usually in Richmond's Best Western)
3: If you passed, you'll get an e-mail for an interview at the YVR airport
4: If you passed, you need to get your First Aid and Firearms certifications
5: When you get your certifications, you wait to get sent off to training in Quebec
6: If you passed training, you're offered a job somewhere you specified

Training in Quebec offers a small allowance but not very much but I believe food and lodging is provided so nothing to really spend on. The process is long and slow so don't expect to get a job right away.

CBSA is the new name for the former CCRA.
the process is not too slow. after u get past the intial 3 hoops, u may or may not get rigaud right away. in that case, you'll get trained at yvr most likely until spots open up.

the catch is if u fail rigaud, officer powers, etc u lose the job.

If i were in the army reserve, would it speed up the process, because i've gone through all the background checking and all that bs already.

Should be a bit faster as long as the clearance is still up-to-date.

Ezekiel 25:17. The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness. For he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know I am the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you.

I suffered a bit cause I didn't manage my time well enough but I still managed to pass. I'm going on to the interview stage now but I'm going to put it on hold for now to pursure my original goal.

The pay is pretty good though, $50,000/yr? Isn't the job pretty slack too where you just sit there and look at passport and ask q's?
