Played one game, and it's almost identical to DOTA. Some characters are different, the UI is different, but the gameplay mechanics is the same. It's pretty awesome too with the updated graphics.

It exactly like dota. It's hard as hell to learn considering you don't know which heroes are which and what skills they have. Items are the same stats but different icons.

Sick graphics though. I'd rather stick with dota.

Here it is, put this in this directory: HoN\game\

Bascically under the "game" subdirectory under your HoN directory.

This will:
1) Display DotA hero names in selection screen and in game so you can now pick a good hero to counter it; and
2) Display DotA item names in game.

Enjoy... remember, if they updated the game with more heroes or updated them with new spells, you won't be able to read the descriptions of the new heroes. So just remove that mod till I fix it and upload it.

Have not played a game of DOTA since HoN. I think pretty much HoN will replace DOTA when it finally gets released. The only reason I will see people playing DOTA is if they don't have the specs to run it or for gaming leagues. I also had a chance to test League of Legends and I was really put off about it, the graphics are nothing compared to HoN and the gamesplay style is too boring.

There's a button on the top left of the mini map where it switches the regular colours of the heroes into red/green. This helps out people who just started HoN tremendously. This way you can distinguish whos on your team and whos not. When i started HoN couple months back i didn't know wtf hero was what or if they were on my team or not, felt like a total noob ahha

And remember to pay attention to minimap... 2 people missing on their team = don't cross the river alone; go and tower-hug. 3-5 people missing on their team = you should not only tower-hug, hide!

Any tips for a newb at this? I've never played DOTA before, but am starting to get the hang of this. I tend to get raped earlier on. Jeraziah is my preferred Hero right now, and have managed to win one game, with good team-mates, being support.

But, whenever I get into a random draft game, I get owned because I have no idea how to play the heroes.

^you just gotta grind at it man. I mean sure we can show and try to teach you but its pretty much all you. Just play a bunch of AR or RD games and pick some heroes and see how they work. That's the only way you can get used to the hero/items.

range heroes are always easy to play early game ... abuse melee heroes early game and farm arachna is probably my favourite range hero ... but i usually play Legionnaire or Magebane, either rape melee or rape casters lol ...
getting owned isn't the must frustrating thing in this game imo ... most frustrating is trying to find a game when you are 1900+ PSR bcuz people below 1900 don't want to lose, and people above 1900+ don't want to fuck up their record from farming newbs either ... i had to intentionally lose to drop my PSR in order to find a game :s

Pest is pro-ganks, max flight asap then by that time its maxed you can buy boots, and you can outrun anyone. Really good for initiating + Plagues Ult, and grabbing runners.

ended up loving storm of the imperial soldiers and was told that HON/Dota is the original form of it so we hopped onto HON.

You should probably play some No Stat games before fcking up your stats.. Unlike dota, this records everything you do. Wards, EPM,GPM, and your cs.You'll really regret it later when you improve. Also watching others for their item build and routine would really help.

im usually on from 4pm to 12am on daily basis and anytime when im free on weekend..

however, ill be missing out if there is canucks game or girlfriend day ..

and its my girlfriend day today so i wont be on :(
