i am finally deciding to watch some english shows... suits or breaking bad?!? which one is better?

2 very diffrent shows that cannot be compared
i havent really watched this season of suits but I can't see legal dramas having its same appeal as the seasons go on...breaking bad on the other hand has pretty much been getting better and better as it goes on.

breaking bad>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>suits

I watched half the first season of suits and it reminded me of 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall' when they were making fun of CSI. Same crap cinematography same cheezey lines and plot.

Breaking Bad has a story line that gets better and better the more you watch with characters that become more intense with every scene. Do yourself the favour man.

Yeah Breaking Bad > Suits hands down.
There is no contest. I would rate BB at 10/10 and Suits at 5/10.

season 3 and 4 were slow burn for the majority of the season but these 1st 2 episodes has been pretty solid...i'd be disappointed otherwise knowing there's only about 6 episodes left until 2013

Mike has to know that Walt is a very unstable variable. I wonder what sort of contingency plan Mike has for dealing with Walt should things go bad between them?

Does anyone else find it very risky that they are now trusting a whole batch of other people they barely know (i.e., the exterminators) about their operation? I'm surprised Mike even agreed to it. The exterminators are crooks and not exactly the most trustworthy type. That whole angle seems implausible to me.

they have no choice. mike has to make money for the "legacy fund" to keep the ones locked up to stay quiet. they were also paying those exterminators off i think.

so nobody is discussing the most interesting scene in last night's episode ?

It was the final scene where Walt mentions what happened to that spanish kid, the muscle, that got his throat slit by Gus, something about how he was trying to cook his own batch and the throat slitting might have been punishment for that.....
then you see Jesse's simple brain working for a few seconds and kind of gives a "oh shit" look towards Walt as he's walking away, as if Walt is subtly threatening him.

Walt has been embracing the bad guy personality quite a while now, like he knows it can only end one way, and the Scarface scene last night definitely added to that theory..
And to me the only thing that makes sense is that his cancer is back for good this time, he doesn't have much time and the reason he's goin "all out" is because he's determined to go out on his own terms and not let the cancer put him away quietly.....

and holy fuck, you'd think that Walt being as smart as he is would have worked out the percentages and splits of the money prior instead of just waiting for the first payday and seeing how much he gets. But obviously it was done this way for the sake of the show's plotline....
when I saw how much he got, I was fckin annoyed lol

twitchyzero
07-30-2012, 05:09 PM
^ i didn't hear the dialogue of that scene clearly..interesting

the show hasn't mentioned that walt's cancer is/would be reoccurring

and mike never mentioned the legacy fund...he clearly said i'll handle the business but didnt go into the details

ShadowBun

^ Mike even explained what the legacy fund was for...

twitchyzero
07-30-2012, 05:34 PM
i meant to say prior to that money splitting scene he never mentioned it...thus walt wouldn't be able to accurately tell what his % of the cut was gonna be

Why is Walt threatening Jessie? Jessie did not even hinted that he plans to cook on his own. He even broke up with his girlfriend for the sake of the business.

Neva
07-30-2012, 08:26 PM
Ya, I think Walt was hinting towards getting rid of Mike since Walt clearly wants to be the King and there's a clear power struggle between the two of them. Also because he spent his time manipulating Jesse, again, to get him to split with his gf.

Every minute I keep waiting for the huge catastrophe/conflict where everyone is going to mass panic. I get so anxious every ep. Walt is just so damn bad ass now that he's not under the watch of Gus anymore.

I was on some TV forum where there are some hardcore watchers and they dissected the timeline after the first episode of the season.

If you go back to the first episode of the series, 50 was spelled out in the fake bacon on his plate.

In the first episode of this season, Walt spelled out 52 with his bacon. So that means that flash forward scene happens about a year in the future.

Thanks for that, awesome point.

Here's my guess - Walter is compassionate again, allowing his hair to grow out again, and giving the waitress 100 dollars.

His cancer is back - this time 100% of death.

The gun is Walt going out in a blaze of glory. "Everyone dies in this movie"

You sure? I was reading a bit on reddit and found:

In case you're wondering what kind of watch that was

TAG Heuer Monaco - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TAG_Heuer_Monaco)

As soon as I saw the TAG I said "It can't be a coincidence that they chose Steve McQueen's watch"

Steve McQueen - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_McQueen)

Steve McQueen parallels with Walter White on so many levels. Also, I believe he died from lung cancer in real life around age 50.

This show man, this show.

"Jesse James" They've so far said it twice... And if you know the background of the Jesse James Story...

Also one episode with Walt and Walt Jr watching Scarface...

Yeah, her story arc is annoying right now. But this show wouldn't be as good as it is without it.

Part of what humanizes Heisenberg and makes this show relateable is his "family man" angle. I was enjoying that hints of Heisenenberg Walt was starting to show a little in the last scene with Skyler.

In the scene where Jesse gives Walt his present, I was hoping Walt would say "Thanks" or something. Just anything honest that would indicate that Walt isn't completely devoted to manipulating Jesse. An indicator that Walt truly values Jesse as a partner and not just his pawn. Sadly, Walt said jack.

I don't understand why there's so much hate towards Skylar. No way is she on Lori's level of stupidity. Hell I think she's justified with everything that has happened because of Walt. She went from being a normal person to being pulled into the drug game + the endangerment of their family's lives. There's so much to lose.

Now Lori on the other hand...

Skyler is 10000x worse than Lori..... She is the ultimate in selfishness.

Walt is dying from cance and he just wants to raise money for his family, and this bitch goes and bangs her boss, then tries to hide it and pay him off. Then says i hope the cancer comes back???

And what is with the "suicide attempt" while everyone is sitting right there?? WAH WAH PAY ATTENTION TO ME!!! im the only one that's important. I really hope Walt disappears her.

The box said Tag Heuer, and the watch was a Tag Heuer Monaco.

The ending scene with the watch on the bedside table did have significance.

The Minute hand was at 51, and the seconds was starting at 50 seconds, and counting to 60 seconds.. as soon as it went from 59-0 seconds, a gun cocking sound happened.

If it took 4 seasons to make 1 year of storyline, then what does that say for this season?
Will walter turn 52 in season 9?

The Season opener, with the 52nd birthday flashforward.. He was taking pills, he did have a slight limp cough, and he did seem to purchase a shit ton of guns/weapons/ammunition. Scarface situation right there.

And what is this "empire business" everyone is mentioning here. i just saw the episode but don't recall that
It's in the preview for the next episode.

I don't understand why Todd is going out of his way to help the team. He went from being a thieve to a murderer.

I would assume it's because Todd wants to move up and sees potential in what Walt and the gang are doing. Clearly, he has no reservations showing people his potential and initiative.

thats probably an intention of the show and the fantastic character development throughout the seasons. walt does a complete 180 from crime out of necessity to being completely power hungry.

I don't know why, but I'm starting to suspect they might kill off Walt Jr soon, somehow related to Walt's meth business, either he'll OD on meth or be a casualty of someone going after Walt. Leading Skylar to really turn and be a problem for Walt building his EMPIRE

For those wondering who the guy driving the "stalled" dump truck is, he's one of Saul's guys. He's the same guy who went with Huell to get Ted Benenke to sign the check to the IRS, and he also posed as the EPA (?) guy doing the inspection for Bogdan, the car wash owner, so he would sell to Skyler.

Anyone else notice the same thing? I get much more out of the show, so I don't mind that the main protagonist has become the main villain. In fact, that makes it really intriguing. Although I gotta say, Pure Evil Walt is not nearly as interesting as Conflicted Walt. Also, would like more Saul

no they are designed high like that all throughout the train just for this exact scenario, not incase random people get stuck under it. It's like that incase someone is working under it at a train yard.

I agree, i actively avoided this thread before i watched the newest one because of spoilers.

Its amazing as much as Walt is a more dis likable character, I still fucking hate Skylar LOL

The downfall of Walt has everything to do with Skylar shutting him out form his family. He got in the game for a cancer cure, then after for his family. She took everything away from him and now as he said a few episodes ago, "this business is all I have left". No more scenes of Walt going to see his kids anymore whereas I think Skylar saw them this episode or just last episode?

Anyways I think its going to have a requiem of a dream type of ending at the end of the series. Gonna be so epic, and def gonna buy the box set of season 1-5 when it comes out, too big of a fan to not support the best TV show of all time.

I don't understand the hatred towards Skyler. She is playing the part perfectly. It's a natural reaction to protect your kids and be super paranoid when you live with someone so dangerous especially when you're so powerless and can't do anything about it and can't tell anyone.

Jessie is handling the situation differently, more passively since he doesn't have anyone close to him around Walt so I guess he is less annoying and more likeable.

This may be obvious, but did Mike shoot himself again? I didn't really understand the end when he was holding another gun towards himself

Found this on Reddit:

Walter did not ruin everything it was Jesse.

Jesse has become many people favorite character and I can get that. However, Mike was wrong about what he said to Walt last night. It wasnt Walt who ruined everything. It was Jesse.
Walt was actually enjoying himself at first working under Gus. He had a great lab, a good smart partner in Gale.
Jesse was the catalyst for the shit storm. He threatened to rat on Walt from his hospital bed. Forcing Walt to get him to replace Gale. In turn, Jesse being the screw up that he was, stole from Gus, nearly got himself killed going after the street guys. Walt saved his life.
Sometimes it seems even the writers just throw this out the window and ignore that it happened. And I do like Jesse but it kills me how he has miraculously become smart and level headed suddenly and how he escapes a lot of the blame when he should shoulder most of it.

Season 1, he turns 50.

Season 5 Part1, there was a flash forward he turns 52.
Season 5 Part1, he turns 51.
Season 5 Part2, he turns 52?

Sad to see them dispose of Mike's body like all the others.

I don't personally believe it's very plausible that Hank would suddenly suspect Walt because of that book and his previous conversation with him. I mean, I realize that's what the writers are trying to go for, I just don't personally find it very convincing. In the real world, would a guy really want to believe the worst in his brother-in-law? Especially with the good relationship he has with him?

Better spoiler my post even though I have no sympathy for people who come to this thread who haven't watched the latest episode.

I get the feeling Todd is using Walt for his recipe. After Todd is proficient, he will splinter off and either start a rival operation, or become the only operation (i.e. possibly kill Walt).

well its signed G.B. which is Gayle Botetticher the other cook that died so thats a pretty big sign that walt could have been involved. i find it hard to believe that someone as methodical as walt would just have that in the bathroom.

i could be wrong but aren't they at hank's house?

cause that flashback scene was in hank's house when he was disabled and working at home on the fring case..so he probably just randomly kept that book around.

to nns's skepticism...walt and hank were JUST talking about chemistry before he went to the washroom so it's not that hard to make the connection... i mean there can't be that many chemists in town with the initials WW

Nope, t'was in the White residence. In the first five minutes, there's a clear shot of the book when Walt gets out of the shower. Definite foreshadowing.

The flashback scene with the W.W. was on Gale's personal notebook, different from the Walt Whitman book Hank found in the bathroom.

The handwritten note in the book is almost exactly the same as the one in Gayle's notebook Hank had. It is a direct correlation.

lol fuck I cant wait to see te final season

what i was thining was that maybe the writers will deviate from the expected course of events (walter dying and losing in the end) but isntead come up with a whole new idea. Where walter sacrifices everything (family, kids, ppl close to him) just to keep his empire and in the end he doesnt even know what or who hes doing it for anymroe

one significant scene that no one has brought up was walt's trip to the medical center. i think his cancer is back and thats why he is done cooking and want to enjoy his last days with his family. ironic that he can't now because hank has a clue.

I figure he left the book there on purpose. I can't see the writers have him that careless. I just don't know the angle they are going to use on his reasons for leaving it around. Maybe by saying he is out he wants to get caught? That doesn't even make sense though.

Lowered_Klass
09-03-2012, 08:10 PM
But like others have said, Walt is really becoming a lot more careless, at least compared to the way he used to be.

With all that's been going on, Walt probably forgot that book was even there, or that Gale had signed it.

I bet anything that Hank takes the book without saying anything, and Walt will notice as soon as he uses the bathroom again... then maybe use that poison (we've seen it a couple times now) to kill Hank before shit gets too deep??

Either way, next summer is too fucking long!!!
