Not many publishers out there charge you for contents that's already on your disc. Unlocking contents on what you already OWN and selling it as DOWNLOADABLE contents is what pisses people off.

Additionally, it partitions the online community prematurely.

With sports games at least the used market prices are reasonable after half a year. Not the case for fighting games. Just my observations anyways.
