3 litres of PC Sweet Pressed Apple Cider on sale for $1.99. Damn, soooooo good. Unsweetened, no preservatives, unfiltered, nothing but pure pressed apples. Pure Canadian goodness. If you have never had this, you owe it to yourself to try it. Bought it tonight at the Coquitlam Superstore near Ikea.

Stupid question - how does apple cider compare to apple juice?

Apple juice and cider tips - YouTube

Seriously though, store bought cider is basically unfiltered apple juice.

Real cider isn't pasturized.

Stupid question - how does apple cider compare to apple juice?

Cider tastes just like eating an apple. Its full of shit.........pulp, that is. When you look at the jug, there's crap settled at the bottom, so you have to shake it before drinking. When you drink it, it just slides down your throat - so smooth. It's usually expensive, so I don't buy it - unless it goes on sale. Today's price is lower than the normal juice.

So, cider is pure, as in full of everything except the seeds. Pure as in no chemicals except the pesticides in/on the apple itself, LOL.

Apple juice is filtered and pasteurized.

Apple juice from concentrate is just that. Juice made from frozen shit mixed with water.

Apple drink is bullshit stuff made from tiny amount of real juice mixed with mostly water and sugar (cheap, crappy stuff).

Sweet (no pun intended)... :)

On your recommendation, I'm gonna go buy some! Apples are one of my favourite fruits.

Yeah whenever I buy apple juice, I only buy "not from concentrate". And I don't even bother with fruit "drinks"...

Groceries (or specifically, necessities) are not taxed. So I'm not sure why you would really wait.

However, If it is like any other no tax day, I don't think there are any restrictions.

Can't remember which one it was, but one of the no tax days fell on the week they had $25 gift card, plus sale on all TV's. Big savings.

Next one will most likely be in December, but ya never know!

BTW, if any of you were wAndering, Alberta and Yukon have a double your GST event instead of a no tax event. It's because Alberta and Yukon have no Provincial sales tax.

Got the toshiba 50 ", PS4 Destiny Bundle, HDMI cable and turtle beach headset

The price on the toshiba is 498 for anybody interested, reg price I think was 700-750. It said price was too hot to list on flyer.

Got some groceries on the way out and also for spending 200+ they give you a choice of a knorr dinner pack or .35 off per liter superstore gas up to $250

Steady stream of people were rolling in though, and I think there's only a few toshibas per store. The one I went to had 3

Don't bother going to the Coquitlam location. Store is closed for the day. Power is estimated to come on between 5:00 pm and midnight. Workers scrambled to get frozen stuff into reefer trucks. Workers have no idea what's going to happen on Monday. I call massive sale, hee hee.

OMG nearly 4 years after your post, I finally forked over the money to buy some apple cider from Superstore, and it is amazing!

Anyway, glad you liked it. They have apple cider at Safeway and other grocery stores, too. I bet they have fancy organic ones.

SS really got rid of a lot of their electronics, it's pretty much just batteries, memory cards and some TVs. I think they're even trying to get rid of their video game section altogether.

i bought my Sony soundbar last September when it was no tax, now i'd be hard pressed to find even sylvania speakers at superstore

MG1

True. They are getting rid of video games. I was told that by one of their associates. I saved the tax but friggin almost $ 40 environmental fees.

MG1
12-04-2016, 08:52 AM
What gets me is the fee on top of the deposit on beverages. It wouldn't be so bad if everyone charged the same amount. Some places charge more than others, while on rare occasions, none. So what is it? A handling fee? Anyway, I haven't checked recently, but the last time I did a while ago it was more at Safeway than at LD..........or was it the other way around. I gave up and just chalked it up to greedy retailers.

Edit: just looked it up. It's called a CRF (container recycling fee). And, we're taxed 5% on top of that fee, since it is not considered a tax itself. It is a fee that is charged by recycling corporations to the public. The retailers either absorb it fully or a portion of it - pass the buck, so to speak. It would be great to see the cost of recycling absorbed by the producers, but that would mean higher prices anyway and would be next to impossible to implement.

BTW, we're taxed on beverages, because it is a non essential, unlike milk. Chocolate or flavoured milk, however, is taxed. Viva la No Tax Day at Superstore!

So much for huge ass lineups. I went to the Coquitlam Superstore at 10:00 am. No line up getting in, no line up at cashier. Scare everyone away with predictions of long lineups works. Gulolol.

2 Litre pop was on sale for $1.00. I'm trying to get off Diet Coke so got some 2 Litre Fresca. Optimum points off this week is 400 points off per Fresca item. That makes it freaking 60 cents a bottle. They have a limit of 2, so I matched No Frills pricing. Same price, but no limit. They honoured it. Win!!! As for No Frills, they had a head of lettuce at 1.00. Coleslaw 1lb bag for $1.50 (not as cheap as $1.00 on sale during their dollar sale). And the icing on the cake. They had Lysol wipes. Limit of one. I found a case way up high where nobody can see (unless you're a frugal asian)............. I took it down and offered them to the rest of the people in the line up. One lady almost cried. I have enough at home. Anyway............... what was Dr. Henry motto? "Be calm, be kind, be safe."

No you wouldn't. In my teens, my brother slipped on some baby oil from a shattered glass bottle in an aisle and cut his leg. It hadn't been cleaned or coned yet. They moved in the "warning slippery floor" markers, took pictures and claimed my bro walked through while they were cleaning so we wouldn't sue.

No, don't think so. They stopped that shit a while ago. You have to go Shoppers now as that's Galen's electronics store. Way better deal when you think you can get 30% or more off when you time it with, "Spend your points," events. Or 20% off during seniors day. You qualify, yes? Oh, only select locations carry Nintendo and other game consoles and games. Kensington Square is one of them the Shoppers on Kingsway across from Metropolis is another.
