Please help a fellow Vancouverite identify the guy who assaulted him
Around 3AM on October 17th I stepped outside the Lamplighter club, ready to go home after having a great time there. As soon as I made a few steps, I heard a very rude remark made about myself. The remark came from behind so I turned around and asked them to clarify why they made the remark. At this point I realized that I was facing 7 males (6 white, 1 asian) who had no intention of apologizing.
After I spent a few minutes trying to defend my position, the asian male took out his phone and started filming me. I asked him to stop but he didn't listen. I decided to do the same and pulled out my phone - if anything happened, at least I would have all of their faces on camera.
I filmed each and every one of them and said "Alright. I got all of you?". At this point, the guy in the center said "Film me man. Yeah, you got me? You got me??" and landed the unexpected punch. Since I was looking at the camera when the punch landed, I had no time to react to it or deflect it. The punch knocked me out and I hit my head against concrete with full force.
After this point and for the next two hours, I do not remember anything. The first memory I have is of me covered in blood, being rolled in a wheelchair into a CT-scan room in St. Paul's Hospital. After a few minutes, they told me what happened and that I had a fractured sinus, concussion and facial lacerations.
A month has passed and I'm still having terrible headaches and experience dizziness almost constantly. The incident also left me with a permanent scar on my face.
The police cannot make any further progress until the guy is identified.
hope u find him too
true what he did was criminal and you could hardly be responsible for some drunk idiot, however when looking at this, i will say next time if u cant take on an entire party, to not risk ticking ppl off by filming them. i dont know why u decided to stay and film them after it was clear they werent gonna apologize. (like honestly, what were u expecting to happen, if u wanted a show u definately got it) and instead of just backing off you decided to escalate the situation
i hope ur pride was worth the physical and emotional injury of this incident
I honestly got chills reading that. Seriously how unnecessary was that? Best of luck to you in finding out who that is. Hopefully a better recovery still follows and your headaches go away Posted via RS Mobile
Stories like these really piss me off and make me want to tear into thugs like these.
I have no idea what I would have done in your situation. The safest thing may have been to avoid aggravating them in any way, even if they were wrong or rude for talking to you like that. I'm sure they would have been less likely to hit someone who walked away or wasn't as offended to whatever they said. It's obvious that they were looking for a fight, but I don't think they would have bothered running after you.
What's done is done. Hopefully you get the guy back. Don't go to jail for it though.
Personally, I'm more scared of the drunk idiots that you encounter walking around Gastown at night as opposed to the crack addicts.
I'm not trying to be a dick here, but is there more to the story that you left out? Cause usually people don't just follow somebody outside and make rude remarks about them for no reason.

Ofcourse they do. Just a matter of being in wrong place at wrong time. These guys aren't looking for a fight (1 on 1, 2 on 2, 6 on 6), they were probably looking to harrass someone.
Gotta feel for the op, but he shouldn't have done what he did.
Op, judging from moments before you took out camera, were they just saying slurs at you, or do you think you woulda got beaten up either way? Posted via RS Mobile
Sorry to hear about this incident dude, hopefully you fully recover soon. But when you saw there was 7 of them, you should have backed off. Pissing drunk people off at 3 AM is not the best of ideas...
fuck giving him to the police, lets go give him some fucking brain damage.
Guy already looks like he has brain damage. What he needs is to be dropped back first onto a fire hydrant Blood In Blood Out style. Posted via RS Mobile
I agree with hchang, there's too many idiots in this city that get all riled up when they get drunk. You can't even go out and have a good time in this city anymore without worrying about getting jumped or stabbed.....
I hope you find this monkey
