I can't wait. I am probably going to the hobby stores, LOL. 20% to 25% off is good.

I was so pumped up about the last sale Imperial Hobbies had, but in the three months I've been shopping around, I have come to realize that the mark up at Imperial Hobbies is so high that 30% off would still make their stuff more expensive than at other shops. Example: a Tamiya 1/350 IJN Mogami is selling for $250.00 at Imperial Hobbies. The same model sells for $150.00 at two other hobby shops. WTH? One of the other shops is having a 20% off Boxing Day sale. Guess where I'm going? Not going to Imperial, unless they have like a 50% off sale. Sheesh.


Last Year's NCIX boxing day sale was pretty lame, IIRC. Hopefully this year will be better.

The two hobby stores. One of them just got in a new shipment of models. I've got my eye on more than just a few. Unlike Imperial Hobbies, their everyday prices are where they should be. So, at 20% off, it's pretty much a good deal. Cheaper than eBay.

I remember a couple years back at ncix there was always a lineup on boxing day morning for the door crashers. Just have a list of everything u want so they can put your order through. As for online I'm not too sure what the process is

Their servers will crash when the sale starts - it's guaranteed. There will be probably several thousand people trying to get onto the server at 5 PM - it's that crazy. If you really want to know what's on sale, someone on RFD is usually nice enough to post a screen cap shortly after the sale starts.

I disagree. I do most of my disposable income shopping around that time.

It's the one time of the year where competition is high between retailers and manufacturers because of the volume of interest from buyers. There's still many items with high margins that come under pressure. The retailer doesn't always have to take a loss for you to get a good deal. Maybe you don't get inventory clearouts, but you now have online comparison shopping (across the US) instead.

On another note, it's a good time to buy a ps3 though. You can get a ps3 with NHL 11 and infamous or uncharted 2 and a dual shock bundle of your choice. I would grab the god of war dualshock bundle. So you're basically getting free games and an extra controller :thumbsup:

Boxing day is only good if you know what to look for. Buy the brands or items that traditionally don't go on sale. Especially when stores have blanket statements such as "entire store on sale".

I work at home outfitters, so if anyone needs some kitchen electrics like a blender or something. Tomorrow morning from 8am-11am. We have 20% off everything if you use your hbc mastercard. And if you get a flyer on the 23rd, you can have 25% off one item in the store. And as for boxing day the only deal that really stands out to me is a kitchenaid stand mixer for 199.99. Only available in chrome. These are normally 349.99.

Also if anyone wants, this is just for employees, They are giving me a coupon for one of these upcomming days, its $150 a dyson vaccum plus my employee 10% off, but its one per employee, im 18 and won't be needing a dyson since my mom already has one. Sync: the PS3 will turn on when you set the receiver to the PS3/GAME input.

Convenience is good, but if you're willing to spend a bit more (or are patient enough to find clearance deals), getting proper speakers and a receiver is the way to go. If anyone out there wants something inconspicuous (i.e. Bose but with way better sound) Best Buy has a 5.1 Boston Acoustics micro-speaker set for $399 this week. I listened to them earlier this year at another specialty retailer and they're actually pretty good for such small speakers.

Thanks for the advice, yet my hearing isn't good enough to notice the difference, especially in my small condo.

I want the convenience of being able to add the S-AIR option for wireless rear speakers. The Sync feature is a nice bonus.

Plus buying speakers and amp separately is typically twice as much as these in-a-box sets, even when on sale since the box sets go on sale too :)

Since A&B went down, Visions has taken over as offering the ridiculous deals on Boxing Day. Unless they've gotten tight this year, they'll probably have a few door crashers that you will have to wait several hours to get. They've usually had a TV or two at 100-200 bucks below competitors and a couple of other things well below cost.

If anyone out there wants something inconspicuous (i.e. Bose but with way better sound) Best Buy has a 5.1 Boston Acoustics micro-speaker set for $399 this week. I listened to them earlier this year at another specialty retailer and they're actually pretty good for such small speakers.

It is likely a Best Buy Canada exclusive. The receiver appears to be the HTR3063 which is Yamaha's entry level model: http://www.yamaha.ca/av/Receivers/HTR3063.jsp

The receiver doesn't have on-board DTS-HD/Dolby TrueHD decoding, so make sure you set your PS3/Blu-Ray to "LPCM" as opposed to Bitstream.

I noticed Costco carries it as well. I'm sure they would have lost money on the TV if customers kept returning them. It's the second most sold flat screen brand in the US ( obviously due to the lower price ).

Most of the internal LCD glass panels are supplied by Sony, LG, Panasonic, and Samsung. So lower end brands like Vizio or Zenith have at least the LCD Panel supplied by these major companies.

Patriot memory is fine. I have a few of them for my cameras and phones in the past and they worked well.

Order it; it says you have the option of pickup and they send you an email 3 hours before store hours or some shit for confirmation. I ordered the studio ones and they sent me that e-mail saying I can pick up.

I don't understand why the site crashes EVERY year, why don't they upgrade/fix?!
Because let's say to handle the Boxing Day load, they need 200 web servers, but for the remainder of the year, 10 web servers are more than enough... it's not cost effective for them to put another 190 web servers into production just to handle the load for a few hours.
