Just saw the film last night, thought it was a good film but not great, IMO The Dark Knight was much better. Two superficial things bugged me about the film, how tiny Hardy was for playing Bane and seeing Hines Ward & Rapistberger aka Roethlisberger in the film pissed me off, but thats just me since I absolutely detest/hate with a passion the Steelers and especially those 2.

A Nolanized Penguin would have been a much more interesting villain. Bane was just... a dude who was kind of big, and a good fighter.

I dunno about that, although I would've liked to have seen a Nolanized Penguin too and especially Riddler. Bane was pretty terrifying in this movie, physically stronger and just as intelligent as Batman
In the one on one fight, you just knew Batman was going to get pummeled to a pulp and not be able to do a damn thing about it. Penguin would get raped by Batman once he gets in arm's length like Joker

It was pretty good but i would rate it as TDK>BB>TDKR

heath ledger as the joker was just too good. The lines that he said how him and batman need each other or there would be no purpose, and also love the part how joker was telling people how he got his scars but changed his story everytime, showed a true psychopath.

Would you like to see my wall of comics, and 50 Trades that I have in my bookcase?

I've never seen a stupider dumber adaptation of brucewayne/batman till I watched this movie.

It was entertaining, but the movie was way to long and tried to cram as much in as possible. It needed refining, and there were alot of plot holes and WTF moments.

I think that article 2 posts above explains mostly why I hated it.

and before anyone says OMG ITS A MOVIE SHIT HAPPENS THAT WOULDNT OCCUR IN REAL LIFE.

except nolan tried to make his adaptation of batman as real as possible, and thats where the movie failed. Now if batman was actually portrayed like a superhero, it would have been a better movie.

theres an article from joss whedon discussing it but I can't find it right now.

edit: this is what bugged me most

Bruce Wayne Forgets to Do Proper Background Checks – You would think that after Ra’s al Ghul and members of the League of Shadows crashed Wayne’s birthday party and burnt down the Wayne mansion that a stricter security policy would have been implemented for Wayne Manor events. First he hires a maid who’s actually a notorious cat burglar, then he hires a woman to head his board who’s actually the daughter of one of the most villainous individuals out there. Shouldn’t he have done a little more digging before surrounding himself with these individuals? Speaking of which, if Anne Hathaway’s Selina is easily able to adopt fake identities and hack super encrypted passwords (like the one on Wayne’s expensive safe) why does she need the Clean Slate program so badly? I mean, its probably the worst MacGuffin in the Nolan Batman trilogy.

Terminator 3? really?

Come on now, the absolute worst example of this is Highlander. Besides the fact that the second and third movies are amongst the worst dreck ever committed to film, every movie and TV series that came after it skewers the entire premise and should never have existed - THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE.

Saw it last night. Avoided this thread until I had seen it. Personally I would have liked to have seen Bane a little bigger. While they did a good job at making him seem faster/stronger than Batman the visual effect was severely lacking. I also didn't like how easily Wayne admitted he was Batman. Some rookie cop figures it out before good ole' Gordon?

Overall it was a good watch. Not the kind I would go see again like the 2nd one but not terrible. I guess when your a fan of the comics it's harder to just enjoy the movie for what it meant to be.

Saw it last night as well (UltraAVX FTW... 11:15pm FTL *yawn*). Started off GREAT... seemed to get a little too cluttered toward the end. My only real beef is that the amount of stuff Nolan tried to cram in should have made at least a half-hour longer movie. Lots of foreshadowing throughout the buildup, some well-done, but some was just a bit too obvious - I would have expected a little more subtlety.

Oh, and... I appreciate that Nolan wanted to leave some openings for someone else to spin off new stories, but... too many contradictions there for me, it's like he tried a little too hard to leave too many openings and it just got clumsy.

On the whole though, a good finish to the story... pretty exciting movie.

Perhaps I went into this movie expecting too much. Maybe I was hoping to be mind blown like BB and then even more so in TDK. TDK seemed like it was a perfect movie.

But TDKR just seemed... off. I cant put my finger on what wasn't right but it just didn't seem right to me. I've read a bunch of articles since seeing it last nite about why other people didn't like it but most of those were pretty stretched or they were things that weren't as unexplainable as the article suggested. There just seemed to be a lot of little issues with the movie. Some weird filming and cinematography and the camera did some weird things to hide violence or imply things. There seemed to be too much story rushed into the movie too and not enough of it was developed. A lot of the important moment scenes like with Alfred and Bruce parting ways seemed fake.

I also dont understand why Batman simply just walked up to fight Bane at the final fight with the police vs mob too. When does Batman ever just walk up to a guy, square up, and start a fight? I thought his thing was to plan and outsmart his villains.

I did enjoy Bane tho. The way he simply doesn't give a fuck about anyone was terrifying. Completely merciless.

Well Bane did break his back, put him to shame and threw him into prison. And considering this seems to be the end of his career as Batman, I guess he wanted to square off with Bane face to face and call it a day. Lol. Then again, he did the same with Joker and almost got his ass whooped until he tossed him over. He didn't outsmart the Joker in the second one as Joker was always a step ahead.

This didn't really feel like a batman movie. Not sure if this was discussed already, but it has been bothering me.

Both the Dark Knight and Batman Begins were set in the night. Everything was dark and ominous. But in this movie, all the major scenes happened in the day and rarely at night.

One not-so-little "continuity error" that's been bugging me...

When Batman fights Bane the first time in the tunnels, he uses his little EMP gadget to kack the lights, then Bane tells him that the dark doesn't bother him because he had grown up in the dark and didn't see the sun for most of his life (or words to that effect)... which is obviously intended to reinforce that he was the child born in the prison...

But of course, we find out later that that's not the case; that there was only ever one child born in the prison, and that's Miranda.

Of course, Bane could have been deliberately lying to Batman at that point... but why would he??

When compared to the previous Batman movies by Nolan, I would say this is a 6.5/10.
The movie itself was good if not compared to the previous ones. It kept my attention enough throughout to stay entertained.

Somethings that bugged me about it.
1. Bane's freaking mask, no emotion, no Venom, bane was supposed to be a mercenary from south america. Compared to the Joker who was twisted and portrayed a criminal mind, the joker was a genius. At least they got veins popping out of Bane's head right. But no wrist controlled venom device.
2. Fusion reactors do not explode they way that fission reactors would, nor do they have the same radiation characteristics, so finding it with, what I think was a geiger counter, wouldn't have worked. Very misleading. The BAT would have no way flown. Didn't mind since this movie was basically sci-fi anyways, didn't have to realistic.
3. Not enough cat woman on the batbike.
4. Batman's aresenal got robbed, WTF?! That's a huge leak of designs, and gear. Part of being batman was having cool stuff to use against his enemies. Somewhere down the road would end up on the market. What's more, wouldn't Gotham think, where the fuck did these guys get copies of the batmobile...

I really hope this isn't the last batman, since they introduced Robin! joseph gordon-levitt better grow some muscles for the next movie.

No, John Blake is John Blake, and his name Robin was just Nolan's nod to the original DC character. John Blake is not Dick Grayson. Dick Grayson is "Robin" the superhero sidekick.

8/10 even though it had a long running time it felt rushed and it got even weaker near the end but all in all i still enjoyed it (if i were to be critical it'd be like a 5/10 but like i said i liked it either way)

one question... batman usually 'researches' these villains/trouble makers... any reason why he didn't figure out that if he focused on pounding away at Bane's mask before that first fight..he would've taken him out quite fast?

on second viewing, this movie feels a lil bit rushed

not sure if it's better or worse than DKnight

I think it was just their way of keeping the character somewhat relevant, since they didn't kill him off in the last movie. He was one of the escapees from Blackgate prison.
