Try craigslist? IMHO there won't be any new keyboard docks that cheap until probably next year after the Prime release. Or maybe Boxing day special. Although ASUS is still gonna be keeping the Transformer as a current entry level tablet product so who knows.

If anyone still wants this it's only $299 at NCIX. Still a few left at Sea Island and Aberdeen

Everyone has the transformer at 299 right now. Boxing day should be 249.

This update to ICS has really polished this thing up. Amuro is right, the typing lag is completely fixed. Everywhere. Browser lag itself is also gone. Using the internet on this thing feels just the same as a netbook. But cooler. The stock browser is now rock solid. Tons of features and perfectly smooth everywhere. It even loads pages faster then my 3 year old 1.8ghz dual core laptop. Im trying out chrome beta now which seems just as good as the stock browser. It was definitely worth the wait.

You do a system update check on your device. Unless you've custom rom'd it.

After the ICS update, anyone know how to have the browser settings permanently on desktop instead of mobile?? I always have to click on request desktop to do it for each tab...

How's the screen on this? How is it compared to iPad 2? I'll be using a tablet to showcase my portfolio on it.

This or Galaxy tab 10.1?

jeff19
03-01-2012, 10:29 AM
^ depends whether you need more memory (microsd slot) or keyboard. If neither of those matter, the 10.1 is better. With ICS, both of them are pretty much identical

Armind
03-01-2012, 10:36 AM
Do both of them have the ICS update?

mk1freak

on tablets this size, i'm liking the transformers slightly heavier feel and concave-like back versus the lightness and the flat of the 10.1, even the new prime has a slight concave back which i find easier to hold. than a straight flat back. YMMV
if your going to be passing the tablet around (to show off portfolio) might be lighter is the way to go for your application.
but if your looking for screen quality:

also tf101 panel reviewed against ipad2 panel (http://www.displaymate.com/Asus_Transformer_ShootOut.htm)

cant seem to find the 10.1 panel review i'll post it when i find it

found it (http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-7.html)

I can only guess that the US model received the ICS update first. Asus will probably follow up with a CDN release 1-2 weeks afterwards.

i bought mine at staples.ca within the first month of release and i could get the update the update the first night it came out. there is no canadian/us version. we all have the us version. you should be able to get it if you have a 100% stock tf101. go to settings and then "check for update".

take at look at the build version it's on right now does it start with US? or WW?

Is any one else's kind of buggy after the ICS update? Mine seems to shut off after not using it for a couple days. Randomly reboots once in a while too.

A factory reset will fix all the bugs, and speed it up. I highly suggest it.

Beside Memory Express / NCIX, anywhere else that sells the OEM TF101 Sleeve?

http://media.tecca.com/2011/11/12/asus-eee-pad-transformer-sleeve-for-asus-tf101-tablets-black-largefrontimage-320w.jpg

$39.99 + tax at those two places is kinda steep :okay:

^ What you recommend then? I heard the con of the oem one is you can't access the charging port without taking it out.

But from reviews...everyone say it holds a lot better + tighter than those aftermarket ones using those "fake leather." Looking for a case to store just the tablet itself. Not the whole netbook / not those zipper cases.

mk1freak

you still can access it just you have to fold the cover over to the back, pick up a leather folio off ebay since they're sturdier.

Got a TF201. need a keyboard dock. Suggestions no one in canada apparently has any in stock. Anyone have a secret stash some where?

Debating between tf101 and tf 201..

As said above.. theres no stock for tf 201 keyboards. So debating picking up a 101 at the end of this week.

!MiKrofT
03-25-2012, 10:37 PM
Why buy the older model though. Just get the tablet first and wait for the dock. I picked mine up from bestbuy us cause I wanted the usdm keyboard layout.

It's not just that.. heard there is build issues with the prime and problems with the GPS/wifi.

!MiKrofT
03-26-2012, 09:49 AM
No problems with mine. Yes GPS doesnt work well but most dont even use the GPS.

dyan
03-26-2012, 09:58 AM
Thats true, but with the aluminum backplate.. Wifi doesnt work that well too..

I guess it will vary with the device you get.. gonna try my luck this weekend :D

Possibly. But after using the prime I couldn't even compare it with the previous one.
