I'm 100% sure your patch is fake. The patch was never sold seperately on its own, it was only sold with the 40th anniversary premier jersey.

The people at the Canucks store are taught to sell. They're not taught to authenticate whether a jersey/patch is real or not. Just because one of them says "its real", doesn't mean it is.

I authenticated myself and the sales person claimed it was a fake until i told him to look at it stitch to stitch. That was when he got furious because it was identical, asking how i got it because reebok werent allowed to sell it else where. Unless it was factor stitched on the jerseys they have exclusively at the team store.

That 40th patch is inconsistent with the one on my team issued 40th jersey.

The embroidery and the finishing on the edges look too sloppy.

The "1970 - 2010" embroidery still looks off. The font looks a bit bigger than mine and there shouldn't be threads connecting each digit. On mine the numbers are thinner and more crisp looking.

Also, why would you get these from Reebok? They never had anything to do with the patches.

They were assigned to stitch on the 40th anniversary patches for the Canucks team store exclusively. For you to say threads shouldn't be connecting is just ignorant because if you have worked at a stitching factory or have knowledge in that field you will know that tiny details like that must have connecting threads. Patches are sewed on by machines generated by computers. There were threads connecting on the digits when i went to verify, everything was identical including threads and lining. There's really no point arguing because this patch is truly one of a kind. :)

Nobody's getting mad here. I am simply pointing out the flaws in your arguments and the inconsistencies with the patch on my team issued 40th.

1. You claim the patches were obtained from and made by Reebok (They are made by National Emblem)
2. You claim Reebok stitched these on (The cresting companies the Canucks Team Store use stitched these on)

The Canucks Store used the same patch on their gamers and retail Premiers. The difference is the Premier jersey also came with a sublimated "collectors" tag on the inside of the back hem.

Probably the cheapest I've seen... you won't find it for significantly less unless the shop you get it from is only making peanuts for each jersey they sell.

It's hard to find NHL jerseys on sale nowadays because retailers have a hard enough time getting them in stock. You would think Reebok would've learned from the jersey shortage during the playoffs but they still do a terrible job handling production and it takes them months to fulfill orders.

I guess they're still kicking themselves for making too many Edge 1.0 jerseys and having to liquidate them to retailers for $75-$100 a pop last year.

They are authentic premiers, men's sizing, with the Reebok word on the back and sleeve (not the Vector logo from last year). Not sure if the third's are part of the deal, but I can't see why not especially if this is a closing sale.

Lots of sizing available when I saw last week. $100 cash tax in, you can't beat that anywhere. I don't know enough about them and their business practices, just passing on the deal. Give them a call for details maybe?

Cyclone Taylors also carries senior cut goalie blank practice jerseys, though you might need to order one in if their stock is low.

I recall some guys making their own goalie cut jerseys out of regular jerseys, info here Making regular jersey goalie cut size - Goalie Store Bulletin Board (http://www.goaliestore.com/board/equipment-forum/92723-making-regular-jersey-goalie-cut-size.html) seems like a lot of work tho and you don't have the v-neck cut which makes a huge difference IMO

It's a great option if I can find deals on older jerseys, etc. I really like the idea of adding some material. So simple, yet it solves the tightness issue.

I think it's time to make a trip to the local hockey shops to see what they have kicking around. I'd even get a blank jersey, then add the logos myself.

I'm guessing the $90 price from Collector's Den is probably just for customization. I think PCC charges $80 for the multilayer jersey customization, so that's not unreasonable.

A non-fake black skate jersey should be about $100 on its own as they can be found on sale every now and then. If you want a China fake replica including name and numbers, they can be bought online for pretty cheap, like $50-60 if not less.

I was actually checking out this listing a few days ago. Only thing holding me back from placing an order is the "RBK" tags.. From what I remembered the jock tag on the bottom left of the premier jerseys spelt out "REEBOK". Same with the tag on the collar. At first I thought maybe this was just how the newer premiers were made (the ones with the REEBOK word mark) but according to the pics that the seller posted, this jersey still had vector logo on the back. Anyone know if this variation of the older premiers ever existed?

Using an exacto knife sounds pretty sketchy... When I stripped a triple stitched Anaheim Ducks jersey, I used a stitch ripper. If you've never done it before, use it ON TOP of the twill number, so you don't damage the jersey. The nameplate was a little tougher (black thread on a black jersey), but what I did was cut one stitch on one side of the nameplate (on the inside of the jersey), and then instead of cutting the next zig (or zag, whatever), I used the stitch ripper to pull it through, and kept going until I got to the end of that side. Do it for all four sides, and the nameplate will come right off. If you strip numbers, you'll either have to use something like "Goof Off", or give it a wash to get the adhesive off of the jersey from the back of the twill numbers. Just be sure to put the "Goof Off" on a rag and then blot it on the jersey, but do it sparingly, as it could make the color bleed.

I didn't buy the patch, not worth the $35 at Vancity sports IMO.

But I did see 3 XXL 40th jersies at the team store with the patch, and they had the single piece of thread btwn the numbers as well.

As for stitching, its easy to do if you have access to a sewing machine, didn't any of you take home ec in grade 8? Any alteration place or tailor should do it for cheap, just tell them you want the zig zag stitching and tell them exactly where you want it stitched.

Fakes of the '98 Orca used to flood eBay back in the day. They were one of the first counterfeits I ever saw. However, they had amazing detail down to the Game ONe (and even went as far as the Game Worn) patches.

I stopped seeing those fakes once "Griffenfood" stopped selling on eBay and all of these laughable fakes came onto the market.

However the majority of the blank '98 Orcas I've seen on eBay have been legit.

^I'm not sure he proved that they were fake. I haven't seen coolhockey's 40th patches or even pictures of them. But if they are indeed fake, why would they need you to send your jersey in to stitch them on? They will not sell those patches on their own.

Officially the patches were only available on Premier jersies at the team store, but its a possibility that some patches made it onto the grey (or black?) market. As I mentioned the latest 40th jersies with patch I saw at the team store about a month ago looked the same as Vancity Sports' ones with the piece of thread between the numbers.

Cool Hockey's patches are not legit. I'd say call the Canucks Store and ask but not a lot of people there know the back story to it. The Canucks even had their lawyers contact Cool Hockey about those patches. Cool Hockey ignored the threats in the original letter sent to them and the Canucks never followed up on it. It wouldn't make sense for them to use two different patches for gamers and retail. I know for sure the SCF patches were the same for both. The only difference was the ones sold loose came with packaging and the ones that the team used right away for their own jerseys/customer jerseys just came bundled together by an elastic band.

i knew what i saw was right LOL!!! From my understand the preimier jerseys sold at the team store start of the season used the softer patch which players worn on ice. Later on in the season national emblem took over and made the other version where vancity sports sells them. I compared the national emblem one (wax back) and softer orginal patch the national emblem looks better and stands out more. So in conclusion i think there are version A and B. Have we solved the 40th anniversary patch mystery? :megusta:

Wholesale liquidators do not have tags on the jerseys. Same with windycity wholesale.

I think it's the same process as a sample sale. When I bought a jacket, they demanded to keep my tag for some reason.

So I chatted with whom I presumed to be the owner of Vancity Sports about the patches, which were $30 installed plus tax.

The story he gave me was that he obtained the patches from the league/league supplier. Then the Canucks sent him a cease and desist order because they had exclusive rights to the patches. He refused to pay his supplier for the order because he was not aware of any exclusivity rights when he ordered them. The supplier told him the exclusive rights were only for last season, which is why he can/has been selling them now. Believe it or not, doesn't matter to me. This is what he told me.
