been playing it for the last 2 nights...it does not feel like D2 anymore...monsters don't seem scary enough anymore. No points system either so you can't put them into strength, dextarity or vitality..blizz made the game too simple. Chat system sucks. They integrated so much shit in that resembles WoW. Then again, this beta is only 1% of the full game so far so can't really judge the feeling. Doesn't give me much hype for the game anymore though..D2 still does and is awesome.

I think the problem is that they streamlined and simplified WAY too much now so that gear is really the only important factor between characters. I think this was intentional so that gear because even more sought after (with real money using the bnet store).

I will still buy it though, all blizzard games are insta-purchase for me now :okay:

Gamers shouldn't expect the next installment of the Diablo game franchise, Diablo III, before April, Activision Blizzard said Thursday.

In announcing a small profit on lower revenue compared to a year ago, Activision Blizzard said that it does not anticipate any release from its Blizzard Entertainment subsidiary in the first quarter, which ends March 31. Blizzard created the World of Warcraft series Diablo and Starcraft. Late last year, it announced a delay of Diablo III into "early 2012."

In March, Activision expects to release the first Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Content Collection, a compilation of content previously released to Call of Duty Elite premium members, on Microsoft's Xbox 360, it said.

"Blizzard Entertainment's World of Warcraft maintained its leadership position as the number-one subscription-based MMORPG around the world and Activision Publishing's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 was the number-one selling game," Bobby Kotick, Activision Blizzard's chief executive, said in a statement. On a conference call for Activision Blizzard's fourth quarter 2011 earnings, CFO Thomas Tippl said two Blizzard titles are expected in 2012, including Diablo III. Blizzard had previously announced that Diablo III was meant to be released in early 2012. This pushback is in line with recent revelations that the Diablo III team is still making quite a few changes to the game that could further extend its development time beyond early 2012. Blizzard's president Mike Morhaime confirmed that Diablo III won't be ready until the second quarter of 2012, and more news will be available within the coming weeks.

In addition to Diablo III, Blizzard is currently developing StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm, Blizzard DOTA, World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria, a "Next-Gen MMO", and is exploring a possible console version of Diablo III.

Tippl stated that there's still a possibility Blizzard could release more than two titles in 2012, but the official line is two titles for now. Knowing Blizzard's history and "it'll be done when it's done" approach to development, it's a safe bet that Blizzard won't release more than two.

There was a page on the d3 bliz website that had locks on the characters they were showing/teasing every week. If you counted the number of locks there was 1 extra which would be released the day of the game release date! :)

when everyone played ball and put on a diff aura, yes it was domination :fuckyea:

but this was before the later patches where they made it hard as hell. by that time you rarely saw that many pallys in a game and they were all cookie cutter using the same auras.

Never watched any videos of D3 and I'm fairly disappointed. Maybe I have too much sentimental value with D2, but this is an entirely different game. I can't see how this can turn into a multiplayer game. There just so little in between making PvP builds with what I can see with the beta. No attributes?! It honestly seems like a single player game. Hopefully the harder difficulties and later levels prove me wrong. But then again this is the beta, and I'm still going to buy it the day it comes out.

i was downloading at 550kb/s yesterday first run of the game it was laggy, then it was smoooth from then on, no lag at all, beat the game with every char, also lvl 8 when beat it, now they are lvl 11 and i just keep doing boss runs trying to get better items. seems like you only get a rare item once per char tho...

i dunno.. i feel the opposite of you guys. I really enjoyed the beta. I enjoyed seeing the game systems that they developed and getting a feel for the UI, and just the world in general. The beta was short, the content was meh, and I didn't at all feel like I needed to play it more than once. But that's not the point of the beta.
After playing the beta, I am even more excited about the games full release now because I can see how awesome the systems will be, and I'm glad that Blizzard showed us just the tip of the iceberg. They don't want to lay it all out there before release day.

If you judge the beta on the story/gameplay content, i think you're missing the point of a beta test.
If you judge the beta on the game systems they've implemented, there might be some good arguments, but I think they're all improvements over D2.

The beta was great, I wouldn't have wanted it to be any longer. It was a great taste of what the game is about. Every level was exciting as well since you get a new skill every time every time you level up unlike in D2. I loved D2 but I think they went the right way with this in D3. Definitely different from all those other RPG's.

I liked the way they changes things, no skill points no attribute points, no mana potions. All those things were a nuisance because everyone followed the same build and mana potions really became useless in the game. However, I feel like they limited it too much with this. Although, I'm not sure what would satisfy me =/ This change is not bad though.

The environment interaction was good, could be better though. Not having to carry tp scrolls was good. Although I didn't like the identifying system at first. Whats the point of right clicking and wait a few seconds? I guess their objective with that was changing unidentified items value in trades. At least it was better than using scrolls. The cinematic scenes were okay but eh could do without them. I used salvage a shit ton so that was great. Bigger stash...items take less space... gold automatically transferred to another character without putting into the stash makes things easier. I seriously hope a room will take more than 4 players though...

The game doesn't look dark enough though. Needs to feel like more "evil" is around. Hopefully this is because we've only been on New Tristram and the next act's will become darker and darker.

I wouldn't read too much into the BETA, I meant it's like... one quest, probably only a quarter of Act 1 of normal. And now that there is 4 difficulties - Normal, Nightmare, Hell, and Inferno. I think there are 4 acts, so the beta probably covered like.... 1% of the entire game (1/4 x 1/4 x 1/4).

To put it in D2 perspective, the beta would be like doing trist. runs repeatedly and saying that D2 sucks.

And come on, we all know the best part of Diablo is the looting of items, so of course the beta felt like a letdown when the items are crap.

I think people are going to be let down by this game. But, mainly because I think they have a false hope it will bring them the type of feeling D2 did, which it can't. Kids that haven't played D2 (I'm talking 12-18 year old kids) will probably fall in love with D3 the way some of us did for D2. Although, it'll never be the same because there are far more options for other games to take away from it out there nowadays.

if you were stupid, like me, and pre ordered via a retail store, you'll only be able to activate your bnet account (and therefore download the game) when you get the actual game and disc.

I wonder if i can download the full client with my friend's bnet account, and then just pop in the key after i get on on release day, then login with my own bnet account...
