Just wanted to say this is a great idea. I also wanted to suggest that for anybody who plans to drink tomorrow you can also sleep in your car till your sobered up even if it means until the next day (I've done it countless times) and if you have a girl with you, you can always cuddle for warmth :hotbaby: i also keep a warm hoodie and blanket in my trunk because you never know when you could get laid in the back :fuckyea: and thats definitely a cooler story to tell then the one about you loosing your license on new years. Last night was full of rockstars. MG1, ImpulseX, Alatar, HollyZ32 were tearing up those streets. (I worry I'm forgetting someone here). They made sure at least half a dozen folks got home last night & everything went like clockwork.

I even had an on-the-spot offer from subordinate via RS chat to join the team and give a few rides. Thanks for that, even tho we didn't need you because we had a cancellation.


MG1 did a great thing in getting this organized this year and we should all thank his posts whenever we see one. He deserves a lot of praise for making this happen. He really gave back this holiday season and deserves serious recognition for that.


Tonight marks the last night of the holiday season & some of you may have tomorrow off, some of you may not. MG1 & I had a conversation last week and agreed that tonight will be the last night the program will be run.
Because this program was a great success we'll (most likely) run it again next year.

I was just talking to LSF about this yesterday.

MG1 and I had a meeting in October and both agreed that we should rock it again in 2012. We'll have a thread for volunteers to sign up soon. We learned some lessons about what works and doesn't work so this should run much more smoothly over last year.

Look for a signup thread in the Member Support forum beginning Nov. 15th. We'll probably launch the program Dec 15 (depending on when people's office, school, and family parties are) and will continue until New Years

New "Revscene Designated Driver" decals are being made. No brushed aluminum this year, but Gold decals will be be available on a limited basis. Lots of white and black. Working on getting hot pink flourescent vinyl, since it is extremely popular these days.

Well, it's high time we start planning for this year's version of Revscene's Operation Rednose. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Tachy, aka El Bastardo.

Read the first post in this thread to get an idea of what it takes to become a designated driver and how the operation works.

Once El Bastardo gives approval, he will notify me and you will be added to the social group titled, "Operation Rednose."

We can then discuss things like when we will start the service and how long it will go on for. We will need to meet at least once before the ball gets rolling - introduce ourselves, hand out decals, and......... there's a distinct possibility of t-shirts being given out this time around for those who volunteered last year and want help out again for a second season.

Although I am far from a prevalent RS member, I hope these words aren't lost on you fine folk.

It takes a special type of person to devote their time and ensure strangers are safe in this day and age (outside of small towns I would imagine). Good on you guys! You should all be proud of your efforts.

Having a young family and hectic schedule myself, I can't commit to such good deeds, although I wish I could. Hopefully one day I can contribute to Operation Red Nose and feel as good about it as I'm sure you do.

Just got back..... It was a good, productive meeting. Great to see some new faces along with familiar ones. Decals were handed out and sizes taken for t-shirts.

If timing is right, drivers who live on the Vancouver side can do a drop off into Richmond and then pick you up on the way back.

Sorry to the folks who called in and couldn't understand me. I have Fido so... yeah.. that should explain why....

I was trying to talk to MG1 while balanced outside on a step trying to hold my hand up as high as it would go to get more bars. It reminded me of growing up on the island trying to get a TV signal by pointing the TV rabbit ears in just the right direction.

El B... MG1... and all volunteers, I would like to thank you for all your time, money and effort put into this initiative this season and all previous seasons. I did not use it this year, nor did I volunteer however I can't imagine the amount of coordination and organization on top of all the stress taken to help us members out.

Next time I see you all remind me to at least grab you guys a coffee if not more.

Alright all y'alls. New Years Eve typically signals the end of our season so I want to thank all of the volunteers. The last driving team is on their way home right now and everyone got a lot of people home tonight.

The folks who volunteered deserve your thanks and you can show that literally by finding one of their posts and hitting the "Thanks" button. The list is as follows:

For those of you who did drive, thanks for donating your time, your fuel, and your vehicular resources for a good cause. you should be happy with the good work you did.

One more thing. Tiger_Handheld. You PM'd me on Dec 1st to schedule a pickup on Dec 31st and I never heard from you. Its almost 5am and I'm not sure what happened to you. I hope you got home okay. I've told the drivers that they should probably go to bed at this point but if you need a ride, you know the number.


So to close, thank you all for making this a safe and happy holiday season. Happy New Year. And please remember that even when we don't offer this program we still want you to make responsible transportation choices when you're enjoying yourself. Sorry guys. My phone died part way through Op Rev Nose. I had charged it but had been using it at dinner so it was a little worn down. By the time MG1 and I had gotten on the road it was pretty low and the GPS just slaughtered it.

We got everyone home safely and I'm happy with the work we did again this year. Big shout outs to MG1, dyan, and vvd!

Please remember to party responsibly in 2014 and that we'll be back again next year!

SO, EB, you can't go to sleep either? I got my one hour power nap, so I'm good for another 4. I'm like a LiPo battery. It's the only way to deal with these sleep paralysis bouts of mine.
