$190 for the now discontinued gopro HD in pretty basic trim isn't even a good deal compared to a while back when a bunch of RS'ers got the motorsports edition for $200 USD. The margins are with all the accessories now. But even those are going away. People are buying less of the monster cables - and even realising that $20 for a vga cable is still a ripoff.

For some things like TVs its not that the boxing day price is shit its the regular price has come down so much the boxing day price isnt that big of a discount anymore

for example (numbers out of my ass)
4 years ago a 46" LCD TV was like $1800 regularly and on boxing day was $1000
now that same level of TV is like $1200 regularly and on boxing day its $900

That combined with some places really putting stuff on hard sales quite often thru the year (Canadian Tire often puts good stuff on for 70% off), it makes the boxing day sales watered down.

There are some deals out there like half price speakers and accessories but it seems most deals now are just blowing out old stock even more than they were before.

sony says they're not going to bring out the ps4 early simply to match when the other companies are releasing theirs and they feel the ps3 has legs for quite some time yet

and they're satisfied with how the ps3 has done even though it was initially behind the xbox its not anymore (par? ahead? close enough? dunno)

so dont expect a ps4 for a few more years

Every store is different, the bigger the store the more door crashers they'll be allocated. Larger stores typically receive around 120 of the largest door crasher TVs in store, but it's entirely possible that they'd sell you one that's in the warehouse for pick-up from there/delivery. If you opt for pick-up, wait till at least the 29th if you don't want a long wait.

I talked to Livestock on friday and they confirmed that it will be the same boxing day stock as past years. Basically its all of the sale and clearance stuff that is not usually on the sales floor, they will be giving more mark downs and some flat rates (ie, tees for $20, kicks for $50, $80, $100). Some of the stock is more recent while others are left overs from years past.... Still worth a look if you want some "new" gear.

I've decided not to go anywhere till after the mad rush. Imperial Hobbies is having their 25% off sale, but even with that, their prices are so high to begin with that it makes it normal price. I've been to at least four or five of their sales. Not worth it. I get caught up in the fenzy and end up spending way too much. Being in the line up is a lot of fun, though. Talking to guys about the kind of stuff they are into. Met a lot of people that way and learned a lot. I know all the regulars. Same die hard bargain hunters.

got the 60" sharp led from visions, was #10 inline at visions poco. also picked up the asus laptop for 98$ without the activation due to the salesman fucking up writing the slip, then when they grabbed the laptop for me they picked the 500$ version. so 500$ laptop for $100... not bad:fuckyea:
