I find Splitz Grill in Whistler pretty good. Five Guys is good too but they don't serve beer.

Not that I give 2 shits about CC, but why the 0/10 rating? I've had it twice now and I definitely wouldn't rate it 0/10. These were the DT locations.

Shredded lettuce, triple O's bun, patty thats as thin and dry (and as manufactured) as cardboard, frozen bacon served up to me by some first time server that will be fired if anything that comes out of her mouth wasn't directly out of a handbook she had to memorize when she was hired? Can I please pay 16.50 for that too? I wouldn't give it a zero though. Zeros are reserved for Browns social shithole (house). My generous rating would be a 3 for cactus, because it would be edible, and the server would likely have either a nice pair of tits, or nice ass.

No prob. Just so you know what you are getting into, its just burger, cheese and bacon. I think maybe horseradish aioli? No leaves or veggies on this guy. The flavour is all in the meat, and its just awesome.

This pretty much sums up my 0/10 rating. And it was so soggy, the burger fell apart. The beef patty was seasoned to the point it didn't even taste like beef anymore. That and I eat with my mouth. Not my eyes.

Went to Town Hall public house in Langley on Saturday for breakfast and had a burger called the fully loaded. Great bun that was buttered on the outside so my fingers got greasy. There are lots of topping choices for the burger. i found the patty to a a bit to thick and could have had more of a crust. also could have used more fries. 8/10 will go back. Cost $14.

Photo's taken via cellphone.

Town Hall in South Surrey (The old Black Forest) is 5 mins from my place, I've been a few times and have only been disappointed in their stuffed chicken wings. Overall decent food at better prices than an Earls/Cactus type place. Burgers served on brioche buns. Haven't tried the stuffed jalapeno/goat cheese burger yet. Next time I go, I'll order it and share a review.

I don't hate it per se, but for these reasons, I am impartial to it. See below.

If i wanted something of similar stature, I would have gone to say White Spot.

The criteria in which I judge a burger.

Beef patty is the star.
Everything else should compliment the patty.
If anything distracts from the patty, they done goofed.
Patty must have a crust.
Drag a butter knife or fork against the crust should sound similar to concrete.
Meat must be cooked to a medium-well (at most).
If it's not pink, your burger stinks.
Bun must be soft and not dry.
It must be easier to tear with your teeth than beef patty.
See #1.
Stuffed burger = gimmick.
Balance is key

Sweet
Savory
Bite/Spicy
Acid
Sweetness.

Served with fries.
White Spot is the epitome of bad fries.

Crisp
Not-dry.

I think these burgers are only OK, not good.
I have yet to have a truly "good" burger.

The best burger I've had lately is at a relatively unknown place called Choo Choo's in Downtown Langley on Fraser Hwy. Past the Casino where it become's one way. My wife Nd I have been there twice now and both times I ordered burgers are was throughly surprised and satisfied. The first time I just ordered their Bacon Cheeseburger and the beef was just delicous definitly fresh and hand made patty as you could easily tell because it was more oval shaped than frozen hockey puck shaped. The cheese was aged cheddar and bacon crispy. Simple addition of ketchup & mustard lettuce tomato. We then found out after when i said to the waitress how great the burger was that they also make there burger buns each day so it's always fresh as can be.

The second time my wife and I went there I again ordered a burger which was on the Specials menu so don't know if it will still be there but if you like greek food here's a burger for you. It was called "The Sonja Burger" and it was 1/3 lb. Patty or Beef & Chorizo Sausage on a Portuguese bun with lettuce tomato & Taziki sauce on each bun. Man was it delicious. You get the juiciness of the beef and then the spicy saltiness of the chorizo kicks in.

I wouldn't say they were the best burger's I've ever had because I honestly can't think of a favourite but both times I've been there I have been more than satisfied with their food.

$3.00 for a burger with fresh lettuce and tomatoes is a fantastic deal. Even if the pattie is all dry and smothered in teriyaki sauce, it's well worth the admission price.

Tried it the other day and lined up for 30 minutes right before closing on a weekday. It's not a bad burger but it's definitely no where near as good as In N Out even though they're essentially an In N Out copycat.

Johnny Rockets Victoria.

Was in Victoria to get a new passport. Walked by this place looking at the sign it I thought it could be a toy store or a food place. Turned out to be a burger joint. The menu was pretty standard. The burger and fries where good but nothing really special. I wish the portions where bigger. If I'm in the area would go back but would not go out of my way fro this 7.5 out of 10.

South ST. Burger Tsawwassen Mills

They had about 5 different signature burgers available in 4 and 6 oz patties. Ordered the 6 oz peri peri burger with fries and a drink. The drink was put on a round tray and pushed to the next station.

https://photos.smugmug.com/Other/FOOD/n-f9qZkR/i-5CLxQTb/0/1c0d9f80/X4/i-5CLxQTb-X4.jpg

At the next station I pick a a whole wheat bun and then he asks me if I want it classic style. I'm confused. Find out classic style is the peri peri burger with the regular peri peri toppings. Like subway they have all the toppings in front of you and you can add what ever you want. Now I wait for the patty and I wait some more. Now 2 people are behind me standing waiting for there patty. More people now come in and think we are waiting in line to order so a worker has to tell them to come to the other side to order. Fist bite all bun and this was the larger 6 oz burger. A patty should be to the edge of the bun or slightly bigger. This patty was too small. This picture sums up the second bite.

https://photos.smugmug.com/Other/FOOD/n-f9qZkR/i-6sxLtkQ/0/33f79dd3/X4/i-6sxLtkQ-X4.jpg

The patty was actually past well done. I know it's a big thing now to have a crust on the patty but the inside should still be juicy this was not that. The fries where o.k. but I did not finish them and that was the small size. 5/10 FailFish

Anybody know whatever happened to Wak Wak burger on Granville and Pender? Google says their permanently closed and can't find anything else about them. Called the phone# but no answer.

Was just wondering if they just changed location or became an actual restaurant.

Every day 5pm-7pm, cheeseburger and a can of Good Company Lager for $14

The Cheeseburger from Monarch Burger; hand formed fatty from 45 days aged beef ground daily and fried on a griddle with lard; in house made bun that's lightly browned with butter on a flat top; "special sauce"

Pretty solid bruger IMHO

Optional fried egg and bacon

Tried Shake Shack in Tokyo and my god, best burger I've had in my life. Cannot find anything comparable here, Five Guys has gone downhill IMO.

Yeah some place literally a piece of lettuce on top and bottom. At Romer's they literally cut a lettuce bun in half lol.

I dunno guys, I was amazed by the "burger Bar" in Vegas. Had the $60 USD Rossini burger with fries. Made with Australian Kobe beef, sautéed fois gras, and shaved truffles.

Spend 11 days in Europe and you know what I had to do.

Cloud 9 Sky Bar and Lounge Hilton hotel Prague.

On top of the Hilton Hotel in Prague with amazing views of the city.

The food comes from the Cafe in the hotel that also does room service.

Ordered the bacon cheese burger from the menu and the server asked how I wanted it done. Right there I new this was going to be something special. I ordered medium rare.

https://photos.smugmug.com/EUBURGER/i-mcVvfML/0/9c671902/X3/1d-X3.jpg

Looks pretty simple but the first bite was so good. Juicy tender patty with the right amount of seasoning. makes burger patties in Canada taste like frozen hockey pucks.

https://photos.smugmug.com/EUBURGER/i-bVPcrzX/0/3c2ad904/X3/1e-X3.jpg

Fries where also great. For some reason in Europe ketchup is not standard with fries and in many places comes in glass jars like this.

https://photos.smugmug.com/EUBURGER/i-NhVdL3B/0/018d3057/X3/ketchup-X3.jpg

This burger gets a 9/10

After eating burgers in Europe I have had to re-calibrate my scale. Burgers in Europe are just to good.

More reviews to come.

Bringing it back from the dead reviewing the Black Angus burger from QFC.

2 of the 3 Quality foods grocery stores in Nanaimo now have restaurants. They serve Pizza, fried chicken, Chinese food, Prime rib on the weekends (better than the Keg for only $15.99) and a black Angus burger. The burger costs $5.99, fries, onion rings, and bacon are a dollar each. The side of fries is a bit small so I pay an extra dollar and get a second order.

This is what you want in a burger. someone really did some thinking when they made this burger. Fresh ground beef cooked to order with a good bun and toppings. Fries are also good.

With burgers, you have about 4 levels. You have your cheapest frozen patty they could find, your kind of o.k. burger, the solid burger, and the something special burger. This is a high solid burger and the fact it's less than 5 minutes from my house is a bonus. 8/10

https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-pmK6St3/0/c3c06757/O/i-pmK6St3.jpg

March is going to be a busy month. Nanaimo is going from having zero burger restaurants to getting 3. Bin 4 a farm to table type burger restaurant from Vancouver, Barrel burger from victoria, and Top Notch burger being opened by some people who a couple of restaurants in town. I hope someone does a bacon blue cheese burger.

We have 3 burger restaurants opening in March in Nanaimo. The first to open up was https://www.topnotchburgers.ca/ If you go to the website and click menu the first thing you see is CHEF'S SEAFOOD CHOWDER. Why? At the restaurant, I got the menu and the same problem. If you have a restaurant with the name burger in it burgers should be front and center on the menu. The menu also has 5 types of buns. Again why? I can understand having a gluten-free option but why so many others. Just pick what's the best. I ordered the heatwave burger with a potato bun and kettle chips instead of fries with 2 dips.

THE HEAT WAVE
Fultons AAA beef patty paired with spicy Genoa salami and Glenwood Meats double smoked bacon, topped with banana peppers, Jalapeno Jack, leaf lettuce, tomato, and Spanish onion, finished with chipotle aioli
$18

https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-mBGC269/0/cf33ffbd/X3/i-mBGC269-X3.jpg

The chips and dips where good it's a nice change from fries that you can also get. The burger is thicc with all the toppings I had to squish it down.

https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-cwJBnvB/0/07b60ff1/O/i-cwJBnvB.jpg

Taking a bite the bun was good, the topping was good, but the patty was overcooked a little dry and needed salt. Also, the patty was a bit small for the bun. Maybe they were having problems opening day but I can't justify paying $24.50 for a burger with chips, 2 dips, and a Pepsi plus tip and parking because it's downtown when I can just go down the street and get a great burger from QFC for less than 1/2 the price. I will go back down the road to see if they have improved.

QFC? Quality Foods.

It's a grocery store chain on Vancouver Island. One of the locations (in Nanaimo, where Manic lives) has a lounge, which features a pub among other amenities.
