Depends on the app. If its nothing heavy like infinite blade or gta then writing for just ios7 has a high chance that it'll still work on iphone4

Ppl still write for android as the approval process is easy (to none) but the app has a fair chance of not being supported by a good portion of android devices in the market

Some platforms are harder to develop for than others, but it means nothing. You develop apps based on where the money is.

You think people *wanted* to develop in Objective-C? A crap language that no one knew until 2007?

It doesn't matter if Android is fragmented, or if iOS is restrictive, or if the approval process is long or short. People make apps for where the money is, that's it.

I'm not saying iOS is better than Android or vice versa, but don't use ease of development as a reason.. If that were the case, consoles would be screwed.

Cave in and got the iphone5s online. My notes is giving weird issue even after a full reset. Randomly I would not be able to make or receive calls or text message. Data would would not work . The only way to fix the issue is to restart the phone. This is very annoying as it happens randomly and the phone seems like it is functioning normally. I didn't flash or root the phone,

one of the things I like about iphone is that they are mostly problem free. Had my iphone 4 for years and never had any issues.

Anyone having random lag and app resets? I have an iphone 5s and for the past 2 days it's been hanging a lot when I change apps. For example I'll be using whatsapp, switch over to instagram and then instagram will not load and I have to remove it from the multitask list, wait a couple of minutes before I can use it again. Also my google apps; gmail, hangouts, youtube, etc will log me out and ask me to redo the whole setup process. This has happened twice already.

Googled online and ppl recommend to shut off some notifications, siri, speak auto, no bluetooth, etc...

Anyone recommend tips on saving battery, brightness is on average already.

Hey I've got a 2 month old 5c that I broke the screen on already, mac store said they would replace the phone for $279, replacing the screen is $230-$300. If I replace the screen it voids the warranty.

There was a thread on here where someone bought a phone and 2 weeks later the seller reported it stolen. The police calls the buyer and told them to bring the phone to the police station cause if try don't, they are in possession of stolen property. So the scamming seller got the buyer's money and the phone back.

This is why I'm only going to buy phones new or from someone I know. No more CraigsList phones for me

^ Only way I could see that working is if the owner had his buddy sell it and then report it stolen. I doubt someone could sell their own phone then have the police get it back. That's outright fraud and risky in the sellers part.

This is another reason why I do all my negotiations when buying/selling through text messages. Then you at least have some sort of record.

^ Read that thread. Seems my guess was right - the person selling probably isn't the "owner". I imagine if you gave the police a description of the person you bought it from and it matched the "owner" they were returning the phone to, then they'd have some tough questions for them.


Find My iPhone/Activation Lock is still very useful to protect against this. The main thing is to never buy an iPhone with Find My iPhone already turned off. Ask the seller to turn it on and then back off, which proves they know the password for the Apple ID attached to the phone. The only way you could get burned by this is if the seller stole a phone and was lucky enough to get one where Find My iPhone was turned off. Or the "owner" who gave them the phone intentionally turned it off for the purpose of scamming someone. This would allow the "seller" to use their own Apple ID.


Let's say the latter was true. So the "seller" turns Find My iPhone off using whatever Apple ID they had with the phone to prove to you it's legit. You get the phone, attach it to your Apple ID and start using it. Then the police show up saying the phone was reported stolen.

Just how are the police going to give the "owner" back an iPhone that's attached to your Apple ID? How are they going to force you to provide your Apple ID password to erase the iPhone so it can be returned to the "owner"? Unless you cooperate the iPhone is essentially a brick. The police would need a court order to get you to provide the password.

Now the police are going to have to decide how much time to waste over a phone. The most likely scenario is for them to visit an Apple Store to see if they can "remove" the iPhone from your Apple ID and set it up for the "owner". I'm not even sure if that's possible or if they have that ability. But if they do, then I'm betting they know a few other things about the device. Like how many Apple ID's have been attached to it or when Find My iPhone was turned off (Apple sends an e-mail when you turn it off). This is the most interesting part - whether or not the "owner" turned it off, and what day they did (was it just before you bought it?).


I think the scenario described in that thread is far less likely with Find My iPhone. When the police realize that someone had to use a password to turn it off before selling it to you it puts a whole new spin on things. It's kinda like having your car stolen but there's no physical damage to the door lock or ignition (like when you have a key "given" to you so you can "steal" the car). I think the police are going to want to know how the person who supposedly stole the phone was able to turn Find My iPhone off without having some connection to the "owner".

Personally, I have no worries about buying a used iPhone/iPad if the seller is able to turn Find My iPhone off for me in person.

You also have to worry about the imei blacklist too. It might not be on the list when you buy the phone, but maybe the seller puts it up a week later leaving you with an expensive paper weight.

^ True. I sent them an e-mail asking them what would happen in different scenarios or if it's possible to have a device removed from a blacklist.

Their website is very limited in the amount of information it provides, and the system appears open to abuse.

So yesterday I accidentally drop my i5s from head height to the ground while washing my car. Luckily my iPhone had a case and it protected it from the impact and had no damage from the fall at all. But I happen to spray my iPhone with the hose a little, but it wasn't enough water to actually damage it. It works perfectly fine but my ringer/silent button on the top left seems to not respond at all when I try flicking it. I do have sounds coming from the ear speakers and from the bottom speakers, so I know that the water didn't get in badly. But when I get a call, text or try opening a app like "clash of clan" there is no sound! The keyboard click doesn't work and so doesnt the lock sound from pressing the top botton. It's werid that making a call and playing music works.. Sometimes, rarely my phone is able to ring from a text and calls. What would the problem be? I try putting it Into a bag of rice as well. Oh yeah, when it doesn't ring it vibrates.

not sure as i dont have an ios device with me, but can you not just dl the google app which has access to google calendar? maybe now the calendar is its own app?? lol
