My dog was just recently diagnosed with diabetes he's a six year old havanese. our vet has said we need to give him 2 insulin shots each day for the rest of his life. Does anyone here have experience with your dog having diabetes? Is it true with the right treatment, a dog can live a normal life span? Posted via RS Mobile
i heard it was common in the chowchow breeds. if its insulin shots, may be type 1 diabetes for the dog? i donno if the symptoms would be the same as humans.
my friend had one of those small type dogs (cant remember what kind), but it had diabetes and needed shots everyday for around 7 years I think. dog lived to be 14.
