anyone play DayZ standalone?

its currently in alpha stage so the game is full of bugs and glitches, but so far its i find it pretty fun. Basically ur a survivor in a post zombie apocalypse soviet town and ur main goal is to find supplies to survive, but ppl r ganging up together as bandits to steal ppls food/supplies or kill them, zombies r ur 2nd concern now.

It would be nice to play with fellow RS members if anyone plays, just so the lone wofe doesnt wander arnd n get killed

i spent the first few days playing alone getting gear and learning the map, then for the past few nights ive been joing servers with clsoe to max amount of players spawning in knowing sniper locations trying to take out snipers that r sitting there waiting to ambush ppl, but so far doing this alone is very hard as any movement i make alerts the sniper.

oh and the first few days i spent a ton of time looking for gear, now i know what kind of houses spwan what kind of gear

This was the review from steam that got me to buy the game

Got shot for 3 cans of beans, survived, only later to be handcuffed by the same 3 men that shot my knee.

As I lay there on the ground pondering as to whether I would survive the encounter with the bandits in Cherno, my trousers were stripped from my almost dead body, this was suddenly followed by an influx of rotten fruit being rammed down my throat and disinfectant to wash it all down with.

Seconds later my captors were shot by a hero, the hero came up to me looked me in the eyes as I gazed into his, he un-handcuffed me, I felt as if he was going to hug me.
But then faster than a whip crack he blew my head off and stole me ♥♥♥♥in' beans.
11/10 would play again.

^ lol that is y u dont loot arnd electro or cherno, even a server with less than 5 ppl, chance of those 5 ppl in electro and cherno r extremely high.

as a new spawn, first thing to do is find food and a water fountain, then a fire axe/wood splitting axe and a backpack, then ur good to go to make ur way west along the south coast, and then north to the airfield along the west coast.

oh and try and rmb what kind of building has what kind of loot, if for example building A has only rotten fruit in it, then building A in every city/town will always have only rotten fruit in it

if ur sick from food poisoning, only charcoal tabs work to cure food poisoning. antibiotics r for wound infections which as of right now is not implemented yet. and do not consume any rotten fruit, u have a good 80ish% chance of getting sick

You could totally lone wolf it if you want and can survive quite well if you're observant/perceptive of your surroundings. Otherwise, it'll be better to play in a group.

Servers are separated into private and public hives. As you can imagine, private hives will store their own data that is separate from public servers. However, all public servers (and there are TONS) will share data so once you have gear from one, you'll have gear in all (and you'll also respawn in the same area you exited). Public and private hives/servers do not share data though.

Each server may have a little difference between one another. Things like respawn time and amount of people will defer but it isn't any big concept that is game changing.

We play on whatever server (or at least I do) because I don't have a favourite.

TIPS (if you get it): Join an empty or near empty server. This way, you can figure out how to get gear and what not to survive without having to deal with other people that want to kill you (aka bandits). Figure out what is good loot and random shit you'll never need (in the alpha, things like paper, pens, matches, etc... are all useless). And the best part, is you get to keep all this loot/gear when you join a more populated server.

Lastly, don't get discouraged if you die a few times in the beginning (or throughout the game). It's all about learning and adapting. And you can choose to be either a hero (that helps others) or a bandit (the person that kills on sight).

When dhillon09 and another friend were looting a military compound, we found these guys that logged into a prison/jail when I opened the door. On TS, I mediated relayed contact and the 3 of us had the building surrounded.

Eventually went up there to meet the guys and we were just as well equipped as they were (there was only 2 of them) and we said our hellos and goodbyes in like 5 minutes. No killing.

Arirang and CRS epic gun fight vs. Bandits

Load onto a high population server and we meet up the berezino construction site by the big yellow crane. As soon as we saw each other, we heard gun shots. Both of us thought that it was the other person but then realized the calibre of the shot was not the same as the gun displayed. We looked up and there was a bandit right there shooting down at us from the top level of the construction site.

I immediately aim up and fire off a few shots so that he would retreat. I quickly run inside the construction site, reload, and try to flank him from behind. This is when Arirang provides some crucial intel - there is at least 3 of them. As I make my way to the rear staircase closest to the barns I go up the stairs. When I reach the second level, I see one of them going down the same staircase and I open fire. He's dead but I'm shot too.

Arirang tells me he got flanked and died. I run back down to bandage myself with my shirt. I then wait for the other two to get near me. I open fire once more killing 1 and wounding another where I ultimately die. Eventually ended up killing 2 of the 3 guys that were shooting at us. Then I went back after respawning to try and kill/reloot but failed.

The Epic Tale of the NW Airfield
Me and CRS are just server hopping into empty or near empty servers to find some gear at the NW airfield after we got killed by the bandits in Berezino. I'm at the hangers while he's at the south barracks so we can cover more ground and quickly find gear. He tells me to come to the south barracks because he's found an SKS for me. As I'm sprinting towards him (in the open field, which I now know not to do) some jerkwad decides to shoot at me. Mind you, this guy was fully unleashing his M4 on me and I managed to get away and hide in a tree. I hopped into a different server to bandage up.

Now this is where CRS comes in and saves the day. He books it out of the barracks looking for the guy and as soon as he sees him, he double taps him. The guy drops and CRS goes to loot him. He finds out though he's still alive and handcuffs him. He continues to loot him and CRS being the good guy he is, decides to bandage the guy up. I get back into the server with CRS and I just want to waste this guy. CRS is telling me no, don't do it, calm down. I say okay, and start looting the jerk. As we're walking away CRS teamspeaks to me, "waste him, we don't let people who try to kill us get away". And that's when I run back to end his life. All in all, this was a good night.:woot2:

We get to the NW airfield and we're scavenging for stuff. We get to the firestation and I go to the top most floor and find there's nothing there.
I tell everyone there's nothing there but nope, someone just had to come up stairs as I was heading down and I got glitched out and fell onto the roof.

Having such a hard time gearing up latley. Respawn this morning, got bit by zombie well looking for food couldn't find a fucking bandage anywhere. i was camping out in the apartments lookin over balota AF waiting to snipe ppl, ive been camping there for like 10mins? all along i keep on hearing noises so i thought someone else has the same idea.

at the 0:30 mark music starts playing, so im like WTF is this guy dicking arnd with me so i pull out the magnum to look at the floor only to glitch n fall down a floor at 1:00 mark, my heart stopped but luckily the next floor catches me. whats weird is no ones on the floor so i quit the server and the music keeps on playing until i exit the game... hmm...no other programs open so cant be ads playing, only OBS is open recording this lol.
