For the first two weeks, I didn't know that you had to activate your roster.
Once I figured that out, I was in the fight. But couldn't figure out how to beat out the guys with Toews, Crosby, McDavid, et al. That's why I realized that PIMs and hits were as important as goals and assists.

Now I'm looking to make some changes that should help us get through January.

It's so hard to move up or down in RSX. I've either been in 4th or 5th for over a month now. Seems like every week I either win by 2 or lose by 2. I think top 8 makes the playoffs right?

After a slow start (I didn't know you had to activate players), it's getting better but you're right. Looking at the stats, going from 12th to 6th is not that bad. We're talking only a few points either way. But once you get higher up the gaps grow. I'm within 10 points of 5th.

Funny thing is, I'm checking out teggie's roster, and he has some strength. But who would have known Karlsson would have 51 assists, or Marchand with 79 points. Tom Wilson has 108 pims and 209 hits, while Wennberg has 42 assists!

Strong roster indeed.
My highest performers are Tarasenko and Kessel, both with 63 points. While Mikko Koivu is a close third with 53 points and a +26. At least I have hitters and blockers. Those grinders are the guys who keep things going.

Funny thing is, I'm checking out teggie's roster, and he has some strength. But who would have known Karlsson would have 51 assists, or Marchand with 79 points. Tom Wilson has 108 pims and 209 hits, while Wennberg has 42 assists!

Strong roster indeed.
My highest performers are Tarasenko and Kessel, both with 63 points. While Mikko Koivu is a close third with 53 points and a +26. At least I have hitters and blockers. Those grinders are the guys who keep things going.

Thanks for the kind words. But as for Karlsson, having 51 assists is normal for him. No one saw coming the kinda production Marchand is putting up. But he did score like 37 last year and had a great World Cup. Wilson I just picked him up just for his PIMS and hits. Wennberg I've never heard of until this year. Lucked out on that waiver wire pick up

Damn, you're right about Karlsson.
Looking at his history, he may actually be having a bit of a tough year with 65 points. He was at 82 last year, and 74 in 14/15'.

I would have never picked up Marchand before partaking in this pool. It's been a lot of fun, and has opened my eyes to the many facets of pro hockey. Like you, I picked up Dubinsky and Ritchie for their hits, blocks, and pims. The genos and apples they put up are just icing on the cake.

Keeper was a ton of fun this year. I enjoyed the hell out of it, especially considering it's my first hockey pool.

But you make a good point about running an actual team. I put a lot of effort into my acquisitions. Also, if you forget to activate your roster, you could royally screw yourself.

Those early weekend east coast games took me by surprise a few times this past season.
