Keeper leagues work the same as most other hockey leagues, with the exception that you get to keep X # of players at the end of the season to carry over to the following season.

The RS keeper league allows each manager to select 7 skaters (any position) and 1 goalie to carry over to the upcoming season. I ended up keeping Ovechkin, Stamkos, Tavares, Burns, Subban, Panarin, Klingberg, and Andersen.

The rest of the players that I didn't keep (as well as the other managers) gets put back into the free agent pool where we draft from.

Looking at the rosters, mine doesn't seem as bad as I originally thought. Schenn, Koivu, Williams, and young Duclair give me some hope. I wish I could have snagged some bigger names, but this will keep me in the mix if they can stay healthy.

jcho has Crosby and Kopitar, with jenner, staal and Backes. Not bad at all.

goonsquad has Seguin, Lucic, Spezza, Carter, and Hoffman, who had a great year last season.

I think mk1freak has some depth in his roster though. A lot of his guys there are putting up a solid 60+ points.

I'm a little worried about team Ghost. Brassard, Eriksson, Hornqvist, Trochek, Kucherov..... With big Ben in net.

But then I come to team Ilikegifs, and I'm all like wtf?!

You get points for utility players. No points if they're benched.
Go to My Team>Roster. From there you can click on the blue buttons next to player names to move them between active/bench.

You can add guys without dropping if you have a player who's on IR. You have to switch him to IR status then yahoo will allow you to add an extra player. I can add one since I have Jack Eichel on IR.

Blah_teggie covered it quite well.

So say for instance we have 20 player max and you have 2 guys that are assigned IR status by Yahoo (IR letters beside player name) then you can move those 2 guys into IR status, which in turn frees up 2 spots. Now you're at 18 players, so you can add 2 guys off the free agent pool. When one of the players is healed and no longer have IR beside their name, then you'll need to drop a player (cause adding that IR player back to your regular roster would put you over the 20 player limit) before that player coming off IR can 're-join' your team.

That's a huge thing to know. Tons of good players go on IR all season long. The thing with a keeper league is that you'll need to retain them even if they're out for the whole season, cause you're keeping them for next season. If this wasn't a keeper league then you'd just drop them cause they're useless to you for the rest of the year.
