The Cranberries lead singer Dolores O'Riordan has died in London at the age of 46, her publicist says.
The Irish musician, originally from Limerick, led the band to international success in the 90s with singles including Linger and Zombie.
A statement from her publicist said: "The lead singer with the Irish band The Cranberries was in London for a short recording session.
"No further details are available at this time."
It added: "Family members are devastated to hear the breaking news and have requested privacy at this very difficult time."
oh damn, she was young!
The Cranberries were awesome back in the day. Chicks loved their songs, and I liked the heavy guitar, so they were on regular rotation in the cd changer.

So many entertainers dying, but it's just the tip of the iceberg............
I'm amazed at how long some of these people have survived. In any case, their songs live on.
Music is so powerful. It moves people. More than any politician, athlete, dictator, etc. Music stirs the soul and soothes the savage beast. It brings us to tears and sends us off to battle and reminds us how fragile yet important we all are.
I remember this awesome poster that Yamaha? put out. It was a picture of all these great people. They were all holding instruments in their hands. Yup, they were all musicians. I tells ya, nothing like picking up an instrument or singing/humming a tune or melody to bring out the person in you. Passion. nuff said.

in 1994 little RRxtar is in grade 6. Green Day just released Dookie, and everyone in his grade is listening to it on their walkman's. RRxtar asks his mom for that tape for a present, and she comes home with the fucking cranberries tape because the green day one had a parental advisory and the guy at A&B sound suggested I might like this instead as it is also 'alternative music' lol. RRxtar was never friends with the cool kids again.
I've hated the Cranberries ever since.
Spoiler!
I actually stumbled into liking the cranberries more than i ever thought i would in the last few years. its good for chilling around the campfire playlists.
The female talent of the 80s and 90s were incredible. Far beyond anything compared to the current generation of pop music. RIP
I think every generation says that about the generation that comes after them. I know my parents would say the samething about Janis Joplin, Joni Mitchell, Tina Turner ect.....
I'm not disagreeing but it's all about the context and what you grew up to.
