Kelly Pohcha turns toward a group in the booth beside hers and yells at them to go back to their country. She also accuses them of not paying taxes like other Canadians, as makes graphic remarks about their ethnicity.
“I do apologize for everything that I said, because a lot of it is not me. I don’t normally say things like that. I don’t talk that way,” says Pohcha, who explains she was merely having a bad day.
However, Pocha says it’s not fair that the exchange has gone viral on social media.
“I mean, people get into arguements every day. People say things every day, it doesn’t get splattered on Facebook and go nation-wide… I don’t agree with the whole thing. I think it’s just gotten blown way out of proportion. Especially when you’re only seeing one side of the story, you’re not seeing the whole thing.”
The video posted to Facebook Monday night, and has since been viewed hundreds of thousands of times.
Tuesday afternoon, a post on the Cranbrook Dodge Facebook page confirmed the woman was one of their employees, and that she has since been fired.
“We are deeply concerned about the content of this video and want all of our friends, families, colleagues, and customers to know that this behaviour does not reflect the values of Cranbrook Dodge in any way,” the post reads. “We strive to be a welcoming and inclusive company with no room for hate or intolerance.”
It's a lot less work (and money) for companies/organizations to fire a person who tarnishes their brand than it is to defend employing them. I don't agree with it, but that's reality.
Everyone, I would hope, should have been aware of that for a while now. Hell, that dude in Toronto got fired for LAUGHING at someone else doing FHRITP like 2 years ago (and eventually hired back, only because he was in a union; zero chance he'd still be there if he weren't).
I have a hard time believing her apology and statement, but even if the statement is true, engaging them was tremendously stupid. Don't engage with strangers, period. Ignore them. Get the manager involved, let him/her deal with it. Go to another restaurant. Don't go on a several-minute racist rant and physically threaten people on camera.
I think it's unfortunate that you can now get fired or something you do outside of work, but with social media/viral videos, this is our reality.
didn't bother clicking your daily hive link
if you're gonna threaten to assault someone then degrade women of other minorities then you deserved to be sacked, whether it happened in your free time or on the job
So a redneck from Cranbrook said some Cranbrook rednecky shit?
Time for full investigation

This video was hard to watch for me because it brought back memories of people yellling racist slurs at me. However, I kept myself under control by not threatening violence or yelling words of hate back at the perpetrator.
That racist bitch is gonna have a hard time getting a new job.

Amen.
THIS is why I don't live on the prairies anymore. Sure housing is cheaper, but you have to pay in other ways. I am not Asian, but I have several friends who still live there who are dealing with this crap on a regular basis. They have the big, fancy houses and flashy Lexus/Acura vehicles (all paid for thru hard work), but this abuse is a regular situation.
I wonder how many people here share the same level of "tolerance" for this woman making offensive comments as they do for ISIS fighters returning to this country for reintegration.
Inclusivity can be such a fickle tenet

A lot of them do. It's always the crazy ones who get noticed. There are a lot of guys who have no fucking clue what to do with their lives. Ask the women are there out there who have to babysit their boyfriends because they can't get their shit together........
Anyway............... carry on carrying on.
That woman was bat shit crazy, though. Kind of like a Rosanne Barr on steroids.

I think those of us from outside of Canada but have been here for a long enough time to call this great country home has all faced this at some point.
Best to hustle hard and live your life the the fullest, fxck the haters. Let your success be the best revenge.
But to the vicious Dodge lady - good riddance.
It's funny people try and act tough and bully others in real life, you have to say karma's real funny when it finally works eh?

Kinda like when natives tell white people to get off their land?
