We are similar retards. I also took them apart immediately afterwards, messed around with them, and then moved on to free-building something else (usually some kind of spaceship type thing). I liked having to improvise when I didn't have the obvious / enough pieces to meet my needs. I also liked smashing stuff into them, and then reinforcing them for better resilience the next time.

Do you guys remember the Lego Digital Designer tool? It let you design your own lego kits and box. The CAD software generated instruction booklets based on your build order.

Then you ordered it and it showed up as a legit looking lego kit!

Hobz is brick built and evos is a one piece hull.


as someone who hasnt touched lego in like 30+ years, after you guys build it if you don't want to display it, do you just take it all apart piece by piece and put it back in the box?
doesnt that get impossible to sort and find the pieces when its time to rebuild it, especially for the big kits?
I would take it apart completely. Makes storing a lot easier than if it was thrown into a bin.

I think the inner piece comes off so you can have just the hull with no deck.

These were my favourite "model" legos, still made out of what looks like traditional pieces. I think that if you wanted you could have also built a couple of other things with this set.

former has license to pokemon, halo, star trek and others, while kre-o had transformers and gi-joe.

i have the kreo gi joe H.I.S.S. tank, a few transformers that got dumped in the box & a halo mantis mech.

Growing up I never got brand new lego, let alone a complete set. They were all hand me downs from friends and coworkers kids that have out grown them. I remember getting a tote of used lego at a yard sale for no reason it was Xmas in July hahaha. As my parents got more financially comfortable, I was able to pick my own toys for bday/xmas but by then I have moved on to video games and rc cars.

As a kid, I only had one Lego Space set, and a handful of the 2x4 bricks. I made 'mechs' that would transform by rebuilding them into robot/airplane modes.

Contrast that to now, my kid has around a hundred sets, numbering around 45,000 pieces per the count on the Lego Builder app.

It’s a sick set! Too bad it’s been sold out for weeks now. I’m gonna try my luck at the lego store later. I already have the original on display but wouldn’t mind a sealed set to stock. But hands down the most badass ships are the Queen Anne revenge and silent Mary.

Just like cars, black sets are a bitch to upkeep. You’ll either need a display case or enjoy dusting. I’m dusting all my Batman stuff monthly, otherwise it gets so thick compressed air can’t get it off without breaking it. Then you’ll be dusting that shit with a brush like a cafe maid.

Pro Tip
I find the easiest way to keep your lego dust free is to use a can of compressed air while running a handheld vacuum in the direction of where you’re spraying to collect the dust. For the smaller moveable sets just do it outside.

Buy an acrylic box from Temu, or if you can't find one big enough, build your own. You should be able to buy sheet acrylic from Home Depot, have them cut to size and just cock it together.

I think sets like these are for collectors who likes continuity in their collection. For me I’m a lego collector but I’m also a superhero fan and car guy. Diecast and action figures no no no. But technic supercars creator cars yes yes yes.

Pretty sure there’s no custom pieces in the game boy, looks like it’s a pretty simple build. Just stickers and maybe a custom prints on existing pieces.

OMG this one hits home. I remember talking my friend into lending me his Game Gear for something like 2 or 3 days (or maybe it was for a weekend, I dunno), and during those few days, I was pretty much glued to the thing. It made my Game Boy feel like such a piece of primitive b&w garbage.

But the battery drain was crazy. I didn't understand at first why my friend also included the AC adapter when he lent me the thing. Wasn't this supposed to be a portable that you can carry around? I very quickly found out how much of a battery hog it was.

I didn’t know about the Kreo ones but I grabbed some of the $5 dollar store sets they’re great for the price but man do they not stick together well, putting them together is an incredibly tedious effort of putting something on and something else falls off and needing octopus arms to hold it all together lol!!

I didn’t know about the Kreo ones but I grabbed some of the $5 dollar store sets they’re great for the price but man do they not stick together well, putting them together is an incredibly tedious effort of putting something on and something else falls off and needing octopus arms to hold it all together lol!!

ya one of the boxes had a deformed part like it was partially crushed (fortunately not important part). they were hard to find, and then all of the sudden flooded all dollar stores to the point i had to stop myself from buying them lol..

kreo-o is much nicer - but it was part of a larger "dojo set" that had a martial arts base similar to the older lego castle set. scrapped all that, just wanted the tank, destro and baroness lol

I had the Nomad, which apparently came out later but looks older somehow lol. It sucked batteries like mad so we usually used the wall adapter but the capabilities were pretty nuts when you think about it. Being able to play full console games, and hook to a TV, and have a port for a second controller, it's pretty dang impressive. I don't think anything else could do that til the Switch came out.

On a side note I've also got all my old consoles on white shelves so for half a second I thought that was one of my pictures lol.

I got a few sets for Christmas, the inlaws got me the LEGO 42204 F&F MKIV Supra and the Mega Bloks Alduin The World Waster from Skyrim. I haven't started on the Supra yet but the Mega Bloks kit has been a neat experience so far since I haven't built anything but LEGO in ages and it's neat to see what they do the same and what they do differently.

My kids also got me the LEGO 77248 BWT Alpine A524 F1 car and the 77243 Oracle Red Bull Racing RB20 F1 car. I built them both and I was was expecting them to be pretty much the same kit just with different colours and stickers, but they're actually built with very different types of pieces so they're quite unique to build. I kinda want them all now but 10 more kits is a lot of $$$ and space.

One interesting thing I noticed is that both sets are part of the Speed Champions series, but the Alpine is 10+ and the box calls it a building toy while the Red Bull is 18+ and calling a building set. Yet both have ~250 pieces, felt the same difficulty to build, and had the same amount of fiddly stickers. Looking on the LEGO site the rest are 10+ apart from the other RB team car, so I wonder if it's a RedBull thing that makes them rate it 18+?

the frame comes with a 2x4 stud piece (not lego) and the clutch power is lacking and i dont trust it. i superglued a 2x3 stud piece (lego) to it for some extra clutch power.

youll have to build a flat platform under the chassis for it to work but i wouldnt.
any technic set is easy to wall mount if youre willing to use a screw. the chassis is full of unused holes for the little pin peices, just find 2 exposed holes in the interior and screw it in. thats how i wall mount the Ferrari and Porsche.

that amg gt3 looks insane, probably the best non "lego technic supercars" ive seen.
my only concern with cada is for $500+ and they are not using real lego bricks is a huge no for me. chinese bricks to $$$ this should really be a $150 set, maybe even $250 because it looks fancy. also chinese bricks dont fit right, either the clutch power isnt there or its just molded off by the tiniest that makes the pins/holes super loose or tight.
not that it matters but you could put a lego 1:8 super car on a treadmill and it can do 30kmh all day, put the same knock off set on, the engine and gearbox would grenade.

Ehh... even LEGO's designs sometimes have errors/flaws, such as wrong gear shift sequence (original GT3 RS), or unnecessary friction in gearboxes. I'd expect it to be flawless if they're charging $500+. Fortunately the LEGO community is quick to offer solutions, usually free of charge!

yeah it wasnt designed as a RC so i dont think it's fair to judge it at speed

competition is good whether it's from china or mattel

i'll try a simpler set from them first, but the reviews seem to say they've been making significant improvements even over the past year

im a sucker for licensed stuff and the center-lock wheels and michelin labeling seems like chef's kiss

they were even ballsy enough to promote it with the real thing

the proportions/silhouette on the amg gt is pretty spot on and cada uses alot more exterior bricks than lego give it a cleaner look less brick built look.
