Man, the tea washing thing!

I don't think it begins to be useful unless it's at least 60°C, and even then, lots of strains of bacteria and viruses don't get killed til that temperature's been sustained for tens of minutes.

Somebody would need to get the water way hotter than that if they're just gonna dip their dishes in there for a couple of seconds lol. And probably makes it way worse if these people weren't washing their hands to begin with.

Notably:

Salmonella takes 6 minutes @ 60°C
Hepetitus A takes 22 minutes @ 60°C, though only 30 seconds @ 85°C
Polio takes 30 minutes @ 60°C, you could've gotten polio :lol

The ironic thing is, if you're at a place where you need to wash the dishes and utensils, they're usually not giving you hot enough water to do so.

Places that are nice enough give you a thermos of boiling hot water are usually places where you probably don't need to wash your table setting.

It's official, I went to the gym today, and used the scale I've been using to track my weight, I'm down 5lbs from vacation. I think down 5lbs mostly muscle.

Now that I am working again it's probably not coming back either.

Haha, we forgot to explain that to my kids the first couple of days. The second day, my daughter managed to get to the cups of washing tea before I could, and then had a sip. They're used to our local restaurant processes.

To be fair though, my uncle laughed at me for doing the same thing on my first visit to HK when I was 11.

going to Dexa scan later today for 3 months update!

FWIW, my family doctor said to not get the scan more than every 3 years due to the radiation. Google tells me that's specific to getting a bone density scan as part of the scan - didn't know that it can be separate from body comp.

- 46lb fat mass - > 38lbs
- 340grams visceral fat - > 310grams
- RMR 1836 kcal - > 1934kcal
- 1.2 - > - > 1.3 increase in bone density


tldr;
- gained 10lbs muscle
- lose 8lbs of fat
- shoulder striations are back
- 22:30 - 5KM
- 50:30 - 10KM
- struggling to do 2-3KM out of breath - > easy 20-30KM runs

22m 5k is impressive! that was my goal for the year or so when i ran and i never quite got there lol

Does anybody have one of those amazon under-desk walking pads that they would recommend?

So many random brands and models on Amazon can't tell if its Chinese disposable junk with fake reviews or not.

Began my cut this week and am thinking of getting one to help get my steps in to accelerate progress.

taking this a bit more seriously in last 2 months

- lost 7 lbs, gf lost 4
- highest vo2 max in the last 3 years
- got a nice running shoe rotation going
- ran my first half marathon with my gf (2:30), fastest 10k (52min)
- eating discipline is hard but life's otherwise good

lifts dropped a bit but not too bad

any, but incline walking pad is more effective.
without incline, hourly calorie burn is like 100 only.

if you still need to type, the under desk bicycle things are better.
if you can use something like wispr flow, the walking pad is fine.

I find it hard to concentrate on solving complex problems when I'm standing, nevermind those little exercise fidgets. In a meeting it's fine, but if I really need to think hard about a problem, I need to sit down.

April had been a busy month, and I have completely neglected sticking to my workout routine for a solid 2+ weeks despite staying active.

I was finally able to force/ease myself back into my regular workout routine for the past week or so, and most of my capacities have been reduced by anywhere betewen 30% - 70% LOL~ With weights, I can only do 60 - 70% of my previous number of reps (at the same weight as before) until I reach failure. With "running", it is especially pathetic. I know I have not been a strong runner since I started doing it again last year, but I was generally able to do 10+ min jogs before I am done. But when I tried jogging yesterday for the first time in 3 weeks, I lasted 3.5 minutes. 3-1/2 minutes. I was just appalled by how big that regression is...

When I am not exercising, I don't feel unwell at all, so I don't think there is any inherent health issues. But it has been a week since I got back into things, and I am not noticing any rebounds in my reps yet.

it's ok, we all falter at some point lol. i've been snacky recently and working way too many hours so i've definitely noticed the belly fat making a comeback :lol

trying to behave this week in terms of food. still walking, still doing exercise on the outdoor equipment nearby. still going to my building's gym when I have time. I successfully forced myself to walk for an hour on my one day off too. little wins.

The temperature might be affecting you. It's not hot right now, nowhere near it, but I went for 2 separate runs this past week and my operating temperature rocketed up by the time I was about 3 minutes in because it's quite a bit warmer out (15 and 17C when I was running).

The first run I was wearing a hoodie and I just persevered and ran hot as I had nowhere to put my hoodie. Combined with not having ran for almost 2 months, my performance suffered.

The second run I smartened up and went with just a dry fit and workout pants. I still got quite warm and I also just wasn't in the right state for it. Performance suffered.

Compared that to my best run before the trip and it was probably around 4-5C out, I was frozen for the first 5-6 minutes, I was in what I would say in a good temperature range for about 10 minutes after until near the end where I was sweating and quite warm.

Biggest one is probably just get in shape and mold your body to fit the right temperature range. Back in highschool when I rode A LOT, cold weather did help my riding performance.

I'm sure the warmer temperature is applying a toll on my running performance. At the same time, I am also quite certain that my own physical decline from a lack of exercising is the bigger factor for the abysmal performance LOL~

Just gotta keep pushing! Even when it is 3 steps forward, 2 steps back LOL~

- GF PR'd 10KM sub 54min on her 8th run
- Physically the most strong + athletic I've ever been
- Cardio at peak, 52 resting heart, and sub 50min 10KM
- 200lbs and around 13-14% body fat, having abs, shoulder veins/striations even directly after weekly AYCE is nuts
- Can eat 3,000-4,000+ calories and 20+ beers a week and no weight gain nor hangovers

Gained 8lbs + gout from ayce a5 wagyu, tomahawks, hamachi, and cervaza
