Review: Pinky's Steakhouse & Cocktail Lounge
First Review (hopefully of many)... here it is
Restaurant: Pinky's Steakhouse & Cocktail Lounge
Where: Yaletown; 1265 Hamilton Street
Website: http://www.pinkyssteakhouse.com/
Intro: Went down to Pinky's steakhouse with a couple buddies to check out this relatively new place.
Atmosphere: 6.75/10

Pros:
- The inside of the restaurant has a pretty nice and relaxing feel
- gave a 'lounge' impression
Cons:
- there are only 4 TVs that were probably 27" LCDs ... they do have a projector but it was not on when I was there
- the Men's bathroom is upstairs and its REALLY small: one urinal and one stall .. The whole bathroom is the size of 3 stalls.
Service: 8/10
Pros:
- the waitress was pretty helpful at making recommendations for the menu
Cons:
- had to ask to get water refills for the table (no drink for 15 minutes)
Menu: 9/10
Pros:
- pretty diverse menu
- decent prices
- good 'side' selection
Cons:
- online menu is not updated (they had Yam fries listed on the online menu but it was not there on the actual menu)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Food: 8.5/10
Sourdough Bread w/ Whipped Butter was served with our menu
What I ordered: Millionaires Filet Cut Ultimate Dinner Special (with tomato linguini)

Friend #1: New York Steak Ultimate Dinner Special (with tomato Linguini)

Friend #2: Sirloin Steak and Lobster tail
Sides to share: Beer Battered Onion Rings and Wicked Mushrooms
For my meal.. The Ultimate Dinner Special includes: Caesar salad, millionarie's filet cut + tomato linguini (or fettuccini alfredo) and a scoop of chocolate ice cream
Caesar Salad: 7/10
- good salad: romaine lettuce, bacon bits, croutons, caesar dressing
- the dressing uses some anchovies as a flavouring (i found it a little too strong)
Millionaires Filet Cut: 8/10 (cooked medium well)
- its no Gotham .. but its better than the Keg
- they did a good job cooking it as per my preference
- came with a few onion rings on top (yum)
- tomato linguini was ok at best
- came with a side of horseradish
- very filling ...
Chocolate Ice cream: 10/10
- it tasted kinda like Haagendaazs but i'm not sure if it was..
Sides:
Beer Battered Onion Rings: 10/10
- damn i love their onion rings haha
- nice and crisp
- kinda 'sweet' type of onion
- big onion rings not those small shitty ones

Wicked Mushrooms: 10/10
- I don't usually like mushrooms but these were pretty damn good
- nice flavour
- has a spicy kick after you've eaten it

==============================================
Overall: 8/10
Repeat Trip: Maybe for the onion rings and mushrooms

I went there a couple weeks ago. 2nd week of their opening date.
Staff was good, and some hotties working there as well. Thats a BIG + !
Food took a extremely long time for our table, so the Manager paid for our entire meal. I guess they had a shortage in the kitchen that day.
Food was good, I had one of the steak dinner combos.

depends on what cut you like.
i agree, i love mortons for their chicago cut rib eye. Gothams is good for ny stripe steak. been to hy's cant go wrong, it was good but cuz i generally go for the ribeye, it wasnt anything close to morton's. never went to pinky's.

i had the porterhouse cut at pinkys and it was pretty damn good very good to share with your g/f or friend spend the extra $2 dollar and they will split everything in half between you guys
btw go there before 6pm and enjoy their cheap appys i did the 3 appys for 15 bux that was a good deal
and then ordered the porterhouse cut and shared it
i have to agree the onion rings are awsome probably the bests i have ever had, not greasy at all

The presentation of the food appears to be awful . The combination of pasta/steak/onion rings seems very dated -- like something out of a mid-range Italian restaurant from the 80s.

went to pinky's on west 4th tonite for a bday party.
my bone-in ribeye sucked.
it wasnt aged enough, yeah it was tender but it was tender because you can taste the cut was young. the only good thing was they cooked it to my exact specs, chicago medium rare.
scallopped potatoes were not cut thin enough so some pieced were still a tad raw.
drinks were ok, wasnt spectacular, ordered my usual, redbull vodka.
waitress was attentive, and all were good eye candy.
cuz of our big party, the tip was included in the bill, 17% grat.
overall, the food was below keg, but the service was fairly good!

saltlik is so not on the same page as pinky's
1) saltlik = more of a bar, tapa's place, it's really loud and there's 3 levels to sit at.
2) saltlik is a steak place but the menu is very limited again, it's more like a causal place.
3) girls aren't that smart with their menu, they are pretty but nto that great with the menu.

I've never been to Pinky's but I think Saltlik is a nice place to hang out.
I went to Pinky's website and the Yaletown location isn't listed anymore

casual place, but the food is something a typical guy would generally like, right? and also ambiance/interior is nicer than pinky's?

I just so happened was there again last night and have a copy of their menu.
Chicago Style Bone in Ribeye - $53.50
I got the prime rib which is $53.50 but damn that sucka is 28oz. Prices may be high for steaks here but don't forget their steaks are like over 20oz as well.

i noticed that mortons, the steaks are huge! like compared to other places, where they say its a 16oz or what not. i think it comes down to the lawyer print or something, 16oz before cooking, or after cooking.
either way, a good steak house, isnt gonna be cheap. they usually serve the steak alone, and you'll have to add the side dishes seperately.
how do you like ur steaks? i like them chicago, medium rare center =)
whats your favorite cut? bone in ribeye.
my dad actually taught me this, the best cuts of meat generally are around the bones (why else ribs taste so damn good!) other cuts may be more tendor, less fat, more consistant, but for taste and flavor, generally any meat close to the bone will be most flavorful.
