Looking for a SSD for win7 install for my desktop PC
Just curious which brand, model and size of the SSD you guys would recommend for doing a windows 7 Ultimate OS install. This SSD will be used on a desktop tower PC.
Please kindly advise.

I'd go with smaller 2*OCZ Vertex serie and put them in raid0. (60*2)
Intel is great SSD, but too expensive on a per GB basis.
Or if you have the budget, OCZ is shipping its Z-drive... PCI-E bus SSD, blow away (by a big margin) any SATA SSD on market.

SATA maxes out at 3 Gbps right now, but not only that, 6 adds some features that are useful to HDTV streaming, etc. You'll see

you'll need a new SATA6 capable mobo, no?
and it sounds like the OP already has a rig ready to go, so there really is no point in waiting, unless you're ready to spend the $$ for a brand new system

you can't keep up with technology....but it seems like Core2duo can run win7 smoothly, I think keeping i7 or i5 is fine

My Core2Duo runs Windows7 smoothly ... except that sometimes when I delete icons off the desktop the icons stay there and I can't delete them! Or when I'm running 64 bit Win7 it decides to FREEZE for no reason.
But yeah, for the most part, I think a lesser CPU can run Win7 better than it can run Vista.

I'm planning to OC my measely C2D E6300 to 3.0Ghz and slapping on 8GB DDR2 800mhz early next year
Sata6 looks nice but i doubt my P5W DH mobo can support it

Actually they're not supposed to call it SATA 3 or SATA III. To be compliant, they have to call it "Serial ATA International Organization: Serial ATA Revision 3.0"

so if i was interested in building a nas system, or simply a sata-duplicator box, would it be worth it to wait in terms of price and performance?
when are they coming with drives bigger than 2tb so I can finally afford a couple... =(
