I have said this before though, when cars are dropped off the ship at annacis there is regularly a few with damage, or they are damaged while awaiting transport sitting in the lots at annacis. There is actually an autobody shop located on Annacis and the cars are repaired without even the dealer knowing about it.
Many years ago I worked at a dealer, and we needed a car for delivery, so I was sent to Annacis to pick it up rather than wait for a truck to get it. When I got to Annacis they gave me the run around for almost 2 hours before finally I found the car hiding away in their little shop, with half the front clip taken apart. Had I not seen that, I doubt the dealer I worked for would have been informed of the damage. Very poor business practice.

The insurance company is probably writing off most of the cars on the ship and manufactures getting a pay out.
Makes no sense for the manufactures to take back damage vehicles, repair them and basically sell them back with salvage titles or have dealers do the repairs because not only is there body damage but there's also salt water damage.

I think that you are missing the point that being that the cars were never titled, there is a possibility of them being fixed, and they would never be branded with a salvage title. You can't rebrand a car that was never titled in the first place. Any salt water damage would obviously be included in the total cost of the repairs which determines wether its financially viable to fix the cars or give a payout. Its up to the insurance company.
