Help: Getting Papers/ Vehicle registered? (ICBC)
I've been restoring a motorcycle (1975 Kawasaki H1) for a very long 15 months.
I got it with out papers, other than a bill of sale including his driver's license number.
The owner before me never had a title for it when he hadit, but he did send in a letter to one of the last owners, and never got a reply. (part of the ICBC process), so he did that much leg work but never get it registered.
So the plan was to take in his paper work, plus my own half of the paper work and get it registered in my name.
Now ICBC is giving me the bureaucratic shuffle; in addition to the paper work I've already had notarized, I have to send a letter to the fellow I got the bike from, and wait for a reply or lack of response, saying I didn't steal the bike or that he is unreachable....EVEN THO I HAVE A SIGNED BILL OF SALE FROM HIM!
I feel like I'm being put on a wild goose chase up a 2 month paper mountain.
Please help me, I've put my heart and soul into this project, countless hours and expense... I just want to ride my bike this summer... It may sound like a small thing but this bike means my summer time to me, all my plans have been leading up to this and now I'm stuck behind red tape...
If any one has any advise any leads or any bit of help trying to get this through, please let me know.

Chase the goose. The only way ICBC will allow this to go through if all your T's are crossed and your I's dotted. Once their liability is out the window you will be granted a piece of paper that allows your to register it.
Good luck. Unfortunately summer may be gone by the time this process is done, but at least you'll have 8 more months work on the bike!

Think of it as protection for you, once its all done it cannot be undone unless you choose.
Its a hassle but worth it since you've put all the time into it.

Because it was a project bike, not complete, and one of the steps requires it being brought in to be looked at. It's not like I could of trailed in a handful of motorcycle parts and asked them to register them right?

It sounds like you have ownership continuity to register unless they changed their processes (i used to work there). Hard to say without knowing exactly what you have. Perhaps an incomplete bill of sale? But it doesn't make sense for you to do a last register owner search process from the guy you bought it from cause he didn't register it.

You can register the car without an inspection; even if it is pieces.
Your mv1484 is incomplete, which could be the reason why ICBC rejected it.

Care to explain? You mean even a car/bike with no prior registration?
