Has anyone sued anyone before?
Has anyone sued anyone before? I'm just curious to know your experience with the entire process.
I'm out about $3,000, I don't have a contract, but I have text messages of the guy acknowledging receiving the amount and some circumstantial evidence that shows he owes me the money.
At this point I just want to make his life uncomfortable. If it's just to take him to court to waste his time and for the judge to hear my case, i'm totally fine with that. He was talking a lot of crap to me lately and I was just going to let it go but now it's just personal.
If anyone has gone through this process, that would be a great help.
The problem is I don't know where he lives. I just have his name, address, and work. Though, he works for a huge company and I don't exactly which location or warehouse he is at.
Thanks for reading.

Have you googled "Small Claims BC"? I find it hard to believe any of this won't be answered on the government website.
However, I will give you that I have sued somebody before and you do need to be able to serve them the documents of the lawsuit.

This is the place you want to go look at:
Small Claims BC | Online Help Guide
Note that amounts <$5k are handled by the Civil Resolution Tribunal though.

Thanks for the replies, I was just looking for some more in depth experience/anecdotes with the process.
ie. if there were any things you wish you knew before.
I'm going through the civil rights tribunal right now as it's less than $5k, just wanted to see if anyone had any ideas/recommendations for the process.
Thanks
