this would be the 4th costco bike ive bought. the other 3 were all returned after i either got a flat and didnt wanna repair it, or the battery degraded, or the suspension felt a bit weak after i bottomed it out jumping off curbs (due to my fatness). So the same 1-2k has lasted me over 10 years of riding. Gotta throw it into the back of the lezbaru and hit the trails nao...

This might be helpful for you, because it was for me:

If you flip the script and instead of thinking about it as "saving your money" aka "avoid fun and happiness" (because whose brain wouldn't say "nah fuck that"?), think about it instead as "building wealth".

Building wealth as in taking that money and investing it. Take that cash and stick it straight into an S&P500 index fund, any chance you get. Spam VOO/VFV and just forget about it for the next 20 years. Over a decades long time horizon, historically the S&P500 would gain you 5-8x. How does $136,000 sound to you?!

But in any case, this is already done. No sense in taking away your happiness over something you can't reverse. Congrats and enjoy!!!!!

This the thing for me. The M3P is not really any more entertaining than the regular M3, speed is so whatever these days, can't even use it because of so much traffic. If you were going to drop that much cash on a fun EV, why not a Ioniq 5N or EV6 GT?

I had a number in mind walking in, knowing we were around $6500 apart....just didnt realize the manager was okay to play ball haha

one thing i do want to clear up

if you guys look, a comparable base model 3 to a performance used is only 6,000ish apart, the 17k is actually mostly to dig myself out of my base model 3... and jump into a similar negative $10k hole for the performance....so to me... it was really just tacking on 2 years of additional financing and my payment actually went down.... which the savibgs kinda balanced out the increased insurance

so my monthly budget actually didnt change except for the fact I am now obliged for 2 more years... but regardless of if i totalled my base model 3 VS the performance 3, I will be in a similar negative $10k hole.... which if it really really happened... I will all out... Badhobz knows... I only have 12k cash to.play woth... which I am hapoy to keep it in the bank for a raining day.

5N and EV6 GT wasnt in budget at all....thats another 15k above the performance....

in the end im just a irresponsible dumb fuck who makes poor financial decisions.... the 15 speaker system did sell me on the upgrade as well lololol

Imo - this isn't a financial decision thing. This is a mental framework thing. As a one-time event this is probably absorbable, it's really if things like this keep happening then it stacks up to actually make a huge impact.

Man, even more reason why the "build wealth" approach makes sense!!

It physically removes the money out of your pockets and makes it inaccessible to you, so it's not there to tempt you haha. Out of sight, out of mind!

And meanwhile, staring at $10s of thousands of dollars gaining in your investment account can be your new source of joy / addiction!

So I assume you some how paid off your model 3 early? How much are you paying % to finance this for another 2 years? Are you even gonna keep the model 3 for another 5 years. I guess the only pro is that you still pay no gas or maintenance, you get free rides by the bus? But then that doesn't really mean anything cus you have EV already and not really saving extra $ on gas.

Imagine if you bought $700 of BTC a month for the next 2 years, you might not need your bus job anymore.

Hobz how do you plan to move that bike, I'm thinking of getting bigger battery bike thing too cus I'm lazy to pedal, but these are all huge and heavy as fuck, so it doesn't really fit in cars, there's no way to roof rack this, not even sure if I can put it inside something unless its a van or I get a kei van to move this. And you still gotta lift it in. So you're kinda stuck where you can take and ride it.
