Well... before the poors are priced out from driving on the road (ie. yours truly), the road this week already has noticeably fewer cars around bcos the ballers have all flown out for spring break.
I am resisting the urge to impulse buy that Solterra bcos the numbers still aren't working in my favour, but it is becoming increasingly difficult to suppress the urge, irrational as it may be.
It only makes sense if you need a new car. It’s probably the cheapest new car on the market right now.
It's remarkable how self destructive the Conservative Party is right now - getting crushed in the polls and they're doubling down on being bros (PP's suddenly looking extra jacked). They're about to hand the Libs a majority and seem happy to make it happen.

There are of course 2 sides to every story, and atm, I am not openly supporting one side or another, so I am only presenting the Hon Chan side of the story here:
Why was British Columbia MLA Hon Chan charged? A friend reveals inside information
[Sing Tao reporter Chen Yifen reports] Richmond Central MLA Hon Chan has been charged with domestic violence. A friend familiar with him told reporters that the incident occurred more than two years ago when Chan and his ex-wife were going through a divorce. Now his ex-wife has suddenly reported being assaulted, and in short, "it's probably for money."
On the night of his victory as a provincial councilor, Chen Hansheng's parents and sister, who had come all the way from Hong Kong, attended the celebration banquet and happily took photos together, but Chen Hansheng's wife did not appear.
A friend of Chen Hansheng, who declined to be named, told reporters that Chen Hansheng was essentially in a state of "separation/divorce" at the time. "We all know Chen Hansheng's situation. For the past two years, he has basically been 'single.' We know that the biggest problem in his divorce from his ex-wife was their inability to agree on alimony. The news that has suddenly broken out now is likely because they can't agree on money, which is why his ex-wife filed a lawsuit in anger."
Another supporter of Chan Hon Seng, Mr. Wong, said, "I was shocked when I first saw the news, but after reading it carefully, I found that the incident occurred in January 2024. It is quite illogical that the other party only filed a lawsuit after so long. Although I don't know exactly what happened, Chan Hon Seng is very dedicated to serving his constituents, and I believe in his character."
Reporters attempted to contact Chen Hansheng's ex-wife to verify the relevant issues, but were unable to reach her before the deadline.
Originally a journalist, Chan Hon Seng was successfully elected as a Member of Parliament in the 2024 provincial election and has since maintained his spirit of "always questioning and asking questions." In particular, as the Conservative Party's climate response plan and climate preparedness commentator, he has conducted extensive research on issues such as electric vehicles, power efficiency, and LNG.
Last fall, he questioned Energy Minister Adrian Dix in the provincial legislature about the unrealistic electric vehicle target, spending 15 minutes posing detailed questions with data. Dix finally admitted that "it's unlikely we'll reach the 100% electric vehicle target by 2035," indicating a willingness to consider adjustments. Sure enough, in November 2025, Dix announced the cancellation of the 2035 zero-emission target.
In an interview with Sing Tao Daily last year, Chan Hon Seng criticized the NDP government for being "frog in a well" and "never thinking ahead."
He said, "Electric vehicles are certainly a good trend, but the problem is that price and charging stations are still major issues. Although British Columbia has the best climate in Canada, it's only truly suitable for electric vehicles in the Lower Mainland. In the colder northern and inland regions, there are issues with power efficiency. I personally experienced the painful charging experience of driving an electric vehicle in Merritt, where it was -22 degrees Celsius, and charging the same amount of electricity took five times longer than in Richmond. Imagine how inconvenient it would be for local residents who have to commute by electric vehicle every day!"
He mentioned that the Site C dam and the LNG project are now important developments in British Columbia, but they were previously opposed by the NDP government.
"The C Dam was commissioned last summer, and the BC NDP government heavily promoted it, claiming that the clean energy source would enhance BC's power grid. However, they forgot that the project was initially driven by the BC Liberal government, which opposed it from both the NDP and the BC Green Party. After the NDP came to power in 2017, they considered halting the project, but ultimately decided to continue due to the huge amount of money already invested and the high cost of restoration."
Despite being a newly elected MLA, Chan Chung-sang criticized the ruling party's strength. He said, "When the NDP was in power in the 1990s, British Columbia was the only province in the country experiencing population outflow. Now we are seeing a large number of British Columbians moving to other provinces or overseas. Clearly, the NDP's economic policies are weak, leaving many British Columbians feeling hopeless."
However, this time Chen Hansheng himself is in crisis, and if the legal case is not resolved, his political future will be uncertain.
Chen Hansheng told reporters that he denies the allegations and will fully cooperate with the police investigation and court proceedings, believing that the judiciary will clear his name.

Decent translation. All i all, i've watched him as a news anchor i think for a while and then he took the Richmond riding when everyone swung over to converservative.
I don't know the whole side of the story but did the wife file / or did is he actually charging him. Again, domestic violence is tough to go to full court etc.

With Carney garnering voter support from both the left and right of the political spectrum, I am honestly not sure how much room there is for the NDP to remain relevant at the federal level for now.
Provincially, the NDP is still very strong in Manitoba, and they'd also have a fighting chance to win back the next election in Alberta. But nationally, they are going to main a niche party at least until Carney's political fortunes start going into a major downturn.

IMO Carney has at least one more cycle in him, so NDP is going to remain fringe for another 5-8 years.
In my head there are two major groups/types of leaders, the crisis management type and the business as usual type. Carney seems so far to have a lot of crisis management cred. I'm curious if he has what it takes when things have settled down and things become business as usual.
Canada, both federally and provincially, should really consider changing from first past the post to some form of proportional representation. Right now you can win a majority with as little as 36% of the vote while parties like the NDP regularly get 12-18% of the vote and end up with crumbs (the Bloc OTOH concentrates their votes in QC and get a lot of seats).
We'd probably end up with governance that is more stable election to election in terms of policies and would probably end up being a bit more centre-left than centre-right if we did proportional representation.
Well didn't Trudeau promise that? Until he realized it meant he would lose lol
They really should consider it now though, Carney is well like enough that he could pull it off and it would get rid of all the pockets of uneducated gaptoothed truckfuckers dragging the rest of society down with their misinformation campaigns if they had some representation and make some of the western provinces a lot happier in the process.
For as long as I can remember back in elementary school even it's been kinda nonsense how much representation ON and QC have, not representative of Canada's population numbers for the last 40+++ years at all.
While things are not looking so good for Eby and the NDP right now, it is still waaaay too early to call how things are gonna turn out. Technically, it can happen as late as Oct 2028, and that is just waaaay too far ahead.
