Here's another pretty decent vintage one just down the street from the one I just posted:

Why is there side by side pooping toilets in the first house, aren't these pretty steep, like its either a tear down or you spend like $500 to renovate it. Isn't a 80-90s van special a better deal? Those are much newer and still assessed at $1.8ish right now. Also those trees on the corner house freak me out, so much maintenance leaves, branches + if it blows over you're fucked.

I think the tree has been there longer than the house itself.

Pretty sure that's a bidet next to the toilet. I think the pricing on both of those houses is $150-200k too high based on the current market and for both I think they make the most sense if the person buying is fine with not doing a renovation right away (or even in the next 10 years). Both houses look pretty liveable as is so if they're fine with it then it's a nice setup.

If you want to renovate and get it up to modern standards then, yeah, it's a $500k job minimum and then the pricing doesn't make a tonne of sense.

It's impressive how these materials have lived the test of time. I can only imagine a modern day build would have fall apart by now.

The issue with old houses in east van is if you buy for say $1.7m + $500k for a reno, you're basically going to take a L when it comes time to sell.

And speaking of EV chargers, my dad has a ticket so he’s going to install a 240V plug. The issue for me is I only have access to a 30 amp circuit in the garage so my max charging rate will be around 24 amps. Still better than standard charging.
