PSU/Motherboard Question
Hey computer gurus,
I'm looking to change my Powersupply on my computer. It's been making this high pitched whine , even after i turn off my system. I've tried using an air compressor thing to clean out the dust but it still makes that noise.
Does anyone know where I can find out , what powersupplies are compatiable with my system?
my MB :
ASUS P5W-DH-DLX S775 i975X 3PCI/2PCI-E X
On a related note, I also want to add some RAM into my moms computer. It's a Intel Celeron 2.80 Ghz and the MB is : GA-8iG1000MK with 512 MB DDR PC3200/400 RAM.
Can anyone tell me what type of ram this MB accepts and how high I can go?
Thanks in advance

Unless I'm overlooking something, any modern day power supply will work....They might have more plugs than you need, but the basics are there. I don't know how much power you need, but I'd assume with an old system like that, you'd probably be ok with 400-450W. However, if you want to future proof your investment, get at least a 550W, so you can re-use your new power supply if you upgrade.
As for the RAM. your post says what kind of RAM you need: PC3200
It's hardly worth buying new, as you can probably find somebody giving that stuff away, but if you decide to buy new, here's 512MB for $24:

But seriously....find somebody that's willing to give you that stuff for free...lol

You can use any powersupply to this day, if you have a high end got for a silent one... Also you can check your memory at www.kingston.com and choose the mobo that you are using and it will tell you what u need.
