32"-37" LCD TV
I'm in the market for a 32-37" LCD TV. Before I begin my research, I would like to know if it's worth the money to spend extra on a 1080p over a 720p LCD TV in this size. I've read somewhere that you can't tell the difference, so I would like to know your input.

are you talking about 1080i and not 720p?
ask yourself, are you going to watch bluray. If not, then pick the best 1080i out there.
I have a Sharp 32" 1080i for xbox360, DVD, RMVB, read game walkthrough (you know those are tiny *.txt file)...
Then a 1080p in the family room for HD video

if you sit within 2 feet of the TV and use it as a computer monitor - get one that is 1080p. Otherwise a 720p set for this size range is more than enough.

1080P is more "futureproof"
It comes down to what you plan on watching on your TV.
If it's for gaming/bluray/computer I would go 1080P.
If it's for DVD/Satellite/Cable/HDTV I would go 720P.
There is quite a big difference between the two. Alot of time higher model 1080P LCD's utilize a better LCD which have better color then the others.
Also, all LCD/Plasma TV's need to be calibrated. It'll make a HUGE difference in picture quality. Default setting is what they tend to call "torch mode" with all the settings turned up to MAX.
I had a friend that bought a 720P Samsung, complained about how crappy the picture was and was ready to return the TV. I gave him a calibration disc to mess around with and he was impressed how big a difference it made on his TV and ended up keeping it. He's just a cable watching guy with the occasional DVD here and there.

95% of games made for ps3 and xbox are 720p native so a 1080p tv wouldn't make a difference.
I found a 37" viewsonic for cheap. Anyone know anything bout viewsonics and how crappy them may be?

How much is the calibration disc? And is it just one made specifically for each brand?

you will have a difficult time to read when using a 1080p TV as your PC monitor.
I have to set my TV to 1280x1024 + super large icons for comfort viewing.

willy, if you dont have at least a 40 (and even then u need to sit fairly close, about 5ft), you probably wont see a diff in the resolution
