Did something happen to the boundary rd on ramp?
Driving westbound on Hwy 1 before the Willingdon exit there's a big electronic board that says "traffic merging - boundary rd on-ramp".
As you approach the Boundary on-ramp, cars are basically stopped on the on-ramp waiting to merge.
I know they repainted some of the lines by Boundary/1st Ave area on Hwy 1 but did they all of a sudden decide to make Boundary Rd On-ramp yield only now? I knew the on-ramp was short but I didn't think there were many accidents or issues with merging there.

Did you use that on-ramp recently? There's no acceleration lane on that on-ramp. I almost collided w/ a truck the other day. The biggest problem is that you cannnot see what's coming. You are snaking up the on-ramp and as soon as you hit highway level, you HAVE TO merge immediately. Last time when I used that o-ramp, I got up there and a semi was right beside me, so I can't merge. I can't go straight cuz I'll hit the wall. What else can I do but brake?

I understand what you're saying. I was just curious, becuase prior to iono few weeks ago (prolly when they made the change), there WAS an acceleration lane there.
I've used that on-ramp in the past and though it was shorter than your usual on-ramp it was still not too hard to merge (worst case you still had a shoulder). I guess when they repainted the lines, they made the ramp way shorter now and got rid of the shoulder at the end.
Overall, good change I guess. Safety first, I never did like that on-ramp in the past because I felt it was a bit short. As long as there are clear signs now telling motorists to stop and yield because I know damn well some won't realize this until it's too late.

I think the changes are worse. I used the ramp for years, and with the old lines it was fine to accelerate and merge. Now it's impossible, I swear this change will cause more problems than good, fucking idiot city having to waste the budget on some stupid shit like that.

I saw a rear ender there just last weekend. Someone probably complained to the city, so they just put that sign up to appease them for now.
