Tax online US orders not based on Final Sale Price?
Im looking for a quick answer so im postin here, i know it should be in the fashion thread
but this is my issue, ordered a bunch of clothes, was taxed by customs based on Regular price not on the sale price... (the site i ordered from declared the regular price as the value)
I sent the refund request in with my receipt (which shows the regular price + the sale price) and i never got a refund
i totally forgot about it until today when i got another package from the same site that listed/declared the Regular price again -_-
i've never had the issue with getting a refund before when regular prices were declared instead of sale... but that was sometime ago
did they change the rules or something? -_-
i realize when purchasing items IN Canada that at times the tax is based on the regular price but wth?

^ you are taxed by customs based on the declared value on the package..so its the company's fault for declaring at regular price.
As for sending in a request for a refund it should be approved provided you have the receipt..so i guess you should follow up on that

That store is dumb. No idea why they're doing that... doesn't serve themselves any purpose, only potentially screws their customers.

Not quite. If it's an item on sale, the taxes will be on the sale price, but if it's an item that's advertised with an instant rebate that is deducted after the price of the item has been subtotalled, them the tax will be on the regular price.

^^^ ah i see thanks
this totally sucks... ive had to pay like $100 extra in taxes now based on these two orders and i havent been reimbursed for the first one -_-
and another thing my mailman keeps taking the CBSA slip that's meant for me, the copy im to use to mail into them to ask for a refund.. when i confront him about it he just gets mad (like im telling him how to do his job) and still takes it, so i just get him to send it to the postal office instead...
but thx for the replies, i guess ill try the cbsa again for a refund and contact them about the last one
