exhaust hole.
i think i have a hole somewhere in my exhaust. i was driving today and all of a sudden it got loud and there was alot of vibrations.
what's the best shop in richmond that can fix this quickly? looking for a drop-in one that can do it when i take my car in. how long does it usually take to patch a hole?

Yeah, good luck with that.
But yes, any Budget or Speedy can do it, usually within 20 minutes after dropping by.

For any sort of time consuming work, yes, they do. But if you just want to get the exhaust inspected, they'll usually throw the car up in the air between jobs. If it's just a little hole, chances are they'll just do a temporary patch by throwing some exhaust tape on it and tell you to come back for a proper repair. If it's a bigger problem then yes they'll require an appointment if they're busy. Best thing to do is call first thing in the morning and find out when they have a lull in their appointments.

so i went to a muffler shop and the guy hoisted the car. it wasn't just a hole. the very front part of the pipe was actually split off from the rest. the guy welded it and now the car sounds as quiet as when i first got it.
but here's the thing. he was saying that i'll need to get it replaced anyway. that the pipes have been "crystallized" and that i need to replace that front pipe which costs almost 400 bucks. is this guy just trying to sell me on this? or is the welding enough?

If you'd like a second professional opinion swing by our shop when you have some time (preferably before its broke again) and I'll take a look and let you know whats up. We do a fair amount of custom exhaust work and its not always expensive.

yea but i don't wanna spend a few bills on something i don't really need. it seems that the welding job is enough. but i wanna know for sure if it really needs replacing.

What car is this?
For $380 I got an entire stainless steel 2.5" catback exhaust (new), and it came with a test pipe too. That was for my old Mazda3.
