Double Router Connection Help!
My current connection is setup like this->
Modem -> Wireless Router -> Wired Router
I have 3 PC connected by wire with the wired router, and different laptops & device connect to the wireless router.
Everything are working fine except this one window 7 laptop...
for some reason, when connected to the wireless router, it couldn't get any internet access.
And when i type 192.168.1.1 to go to the router config...instead of bringing me to the "wireless router" like other machine, it actually brings me to the "wired router" config. (I think this is the reason why I couldn't get any internet access..)
Anyone knows why and how to fix this problem??
(both router are linksys btw, 1 is an older wired router, and the other one is the 160N wireless router)

is the laptop pluged into the wired or wireless laptop?..
you should probably turn off the DHCP of the wire router so it just acts as a hub. having 2 routers is stupid and wrong. 2nd one should be hub / switch.

Why do u even need the wired router in the mix? The wireless router has both wired and wireless connections.
Also the reason you can't access both routers is you need to change the ip address of the routers so they're not the same.

i need the 2nd router because there are network cables pre-routed from the basement to the 2/F bedrooms....so I put the wirelss in the M/F, and the wired router in the basement which connects to the 2/F rooms.
I can't put the wireless router in the basement (to eliminate the need for a 2nd router) because the there is no cable outlet in the basement, plus the signal is probably gonna suffer if I put the wireless in the basement.
So how do I change the ip address of the routers?
And how come the problem only affects certain laptops / devices but not everything?

Hmm you'll need to change the wired router downstairs to disable dhcp and any router functions. This way the wireless router does all the work. You should be able to just log into the wired router and change the router's IP to something else.

And if you still can't figure it out, get an inexpensive hub and use that.
