R6S are pretty much 03/04 bikes renamed the R6S instead of the R6.
They've been selling since 06 as this new name while the other R6 was being sold.

It was bought from the yamaha store house through daytona. I was told it was the last 08 black R6S they had for sale.
So yes it was basically left over stock that was bought recently.

true some of the engine performance has been changed though. As well "IMO' the R6s is a much better street bike. The R6 is s lot more aggressive in terms of suspension and road ride quality.
