Cut/thread steel gas pipe - where?
Home Depot used to offer this service, for $3 they'd cut and thread steel gas pip. They have removed the machines from their stores (although rumors has it the Terminal location still has the machines) so I'm looking for somewhere to get this done.
I have 5 pipes I need cut to exact sizes. Using the steel gas plumbing pipe to make this:

A while ago according to the guy at the Richmond location.
I do remember seeing the machine at the Terminal location recently, so I'm going to check there tomorrow.

It's store dependant, they all have different products and services available based on the area. Just call and ask if they have it available, that's better than making a trip for nothing.

The terminal location has the machine, and the plumbing expert said he had no clue why Richmond would say they are removing the machines other than Richmond's machine has been broken for months.

Would be awesome if you could make a step by step DIY tutorial, kthxbye.
EDIT: found where you got the picture. http://www.the-brick-house.com/2009/09/shelving-unit/
EDIT: just realized this wouldn't work for me as my floor is not level, but my t-bar ceiling is :P

Glad you found it. Its very simple to make. I saw a design online that was suspended from the ceiling, and used rubber feet instead of the wide plates on the floor - that may work for you. The rubber feet for chair and table legs should fit the 1/2" pipe.
If anyone attempts this, these are my comments:
1. Home Depot Canada does not stock pipe in 8-12" lengths. Home Depot in Bellingham does.
2. Measuring is a PITA. I have no clue how any of the measurements supplied work. With those measurements it would hit a standard 8' ceiling. I had to measure to the 1/8" to get everything lined up.
3. Even with measuring, things won't line up. For instance the height of the pipes of the long bottom shelf in my project are off by 1/4" Luckily since the pipes are spaced apart there's enough flex in the board to deal with one pipe being slightly taller/shorter.
4. Cleaning and painting pipe sucks, especially in a condo. I wish I had a house or garage, I would've hung all the pipe to paint.

Finally completed this, now just gotta wait till she decides on a paint colour for the wall.
Went together very easy and looks far better than I expected. I like how its industrial look offsets the rest of her modern decor.
