Connect printer to router, connect to existing network?
Hey guys,
Maybe someone on here can help me...
I want to share a printer over my network, but because of the layout of the house and certain needs, I can't connect the printer directly to the wireless access point.
I have an Asus RT-N16 lying around, rooted with Tomato that I used to use before we switched to Telus and now we're using the modem they gave us.
Can I connect my printer to my N16, and then connect the N16 to my existing network, as a client (i guess), and be able to share the printer across my computers?
If it matters, printer is a Canon MF4150, router is an Asus RT-N16 (tomato), and the Telus router is an Actiontec V1000H.
TIA

Sure. Just make sure that dhcp is turned off on the N16, and connect it to your network via one of the LAN ports.

same configuration as what presto said. your N16 is just acting as a switch to the telus modem/router.
I heard the new telus modem/router combo can be set to bridge mode. you should call telus to see if it can be done.
