streaming file on tablet
looking for an app to let me view/stream files from my computer on my tablet. got any recommendations? if i my router is connected to my modem does that mean its on the same network?

If you're ok with buying an app then I recommend Plex. Install the server portion on your desktop and buy the client through the playstore.
If you're more technical you can use a file browser like SolidExplorer or ES File Explorer and then open a network share to your desktop where the files are located.
I myself use Plex for the most part.

+1 for plex. The ease of setup and interface is second to none. You can also use your tablet as a remote control for your Plex HTPC. Very seamless.

+2 for Plex, plus you can create an account with them that will let you stream from anywhere, too... fully cross-platform as well. I run it on my Synology NAS and stream to my phone, a XIOS Android-based media box, and Sony and LG Blu-Ray players.
